Jack’s Night Shift

i miss my doctor. she's not gone or anything - just moving from night shift to day. and i'm here without her on my screen on thursday nights

“kid, what the hell are you doing?”

“i’m tagging along, sir. dr. abbot gave me the clear.”

“i— and who do you suppose will housesit my place?”

“dr. abbot said he’s got that covered, boss. said something about how he might actually try nude yoga now that you mentioned it.”

Dennis, a kid that grew up working on tractors and other large farm machinery shuffles awkwardly and quickly tries to hide the wrench behind his back as he just gives Robby his biggest, saddest eyes - while still not truly feeling guilty because he ultimately did this FOR Robby’s own good.

Jack, who recruited Dennis and is now standing next to him, just tosses his tool on the ground letting it clatter against the pavement and motorcycle parts. Folding his arms across his chest he just says, “Sorry man, it had to be done.” As he shrugs and twitches his mouth to the side. To Jack, that’s a complete explanation for the situation on the ground in front of him.

Robby, who has been holding his breath since he walked outside, finally manages to start breathing again and just makes a small strangled sound while looking between Dennis and Jack repeatedly.

Shen peaks out the ambulance bay doors, while getting glared at by Jack because he was supposed to be the lookout - but Robby “slipped past him” while he was distracted refilling his Duncan cup with bad break room coffee.

Crus calmly strolls out past Shen. He has called Robby an Uber and is ready to wrap his arms around him in a bear hug from behind should his reaction to what was his motorcycle be too emotional or physical.

Ellis walks out with her bag and Jack’s camo backpack because she and Jack are escorting Robby home and taking turns camping out at his place until they know his head is in a better place.
