“That makes sense,” Allie smiles, nodding. “Get settled into everything before taking on more, and all.” She watches Brighton take the ID, and smiles, leaning against the back of the couch. “Not to get corny, but I remember you walking through those doors for the first time, a scared shitless intern. Look how far you’ve gotten, all you’ve overcome…you should be proud,” Allie says. “I know I am.” She nods at the explanation, grinning. “Well then, Joe’s it is. I’ll let everyone know.” Allie hesitates, glancing down and then back up at Brighton. “I’m not sure if you know, but just so you’re not taken aback…Laine left.”Â
“God that seems like forever ago. Intern, now Attending...now that is surreal.” Chuckling it felt really good to catch up with Allie. The idea of meeting up with everyone felt really great. It hadn’t been that long but it felt like forever all at the same time since she left. Listening to Allie’s words Brighton slowly nodded. “Yeah...yeah she called me actually to say goodbye.. put bad blood behind us. She’s checked in a few times. She’s in Atlanta right now and it sounds like she’s really, really happy.”Â

Well, that’s good to hear. How were your travels? Allie said you were all over the states, in low income areas?
Yeah I was. Different clinic every week almost. I was able to really help I think. It was definitely a life changing experience.

Right, makes sense. And your kid has grown so much. [wide eyes, shakes head] I mean, Alex got back here and didn’t recognize the place so I guess a lot? Things change around here and we don’t really notice, but I guess if we all left and came back months later, we’d feel like everything changed? [shrugs] Kids have grown. Zo’s into basketball now. She counted the most points at her first official game last week, her team won.Â
Mer that’s all so great. I can’t wait to see them.
