TW for blood, self harm/suicide attempt, mental illness, psychotic symptoms.
Kurt develops bipolar, him and Blaine try to deal.
They call them âmood stabilizersâ but Kurt knows what they really are. Atypical antipsychotic pills to make the voices go away. To make him stop hurting the ones he loves. To make him stop hurting himself. Then antidepressants (two kinds: SSRI for the anxiety, SNRI for the depression) and sleeping pills and heâs about done so long as he doesnât count the vitamins he has to take to stay physically healthy after his last bout of mania lead him to exhaustion and malnutrition. They donât know whatâs going on with his eating (Kurt knows, though, thatâs all that matters).
Blaine doesnât know what to do, heâs spent the past 72 hours in total panic and shock after seeing Kurt, after heâd been in such a good mood before, lying on the kitchen floor bleeding. Bleeding from wounds heâd made himself. Then it was an ambulance and a Thank god we made it in time and then a written consent form to put Kurt into care and Blaineâs husband of three months is committed into the psych ward.
The diagnoses and prescriptions hit both of them like a hurricane. Suddenly Blaine is playing nurse and Kurt is playing patient but not in a sexy way--in fact they canât even have sex because Kurtâs medications destroyed his sex drive. Even if they hadnât if Kurt is manic, he canât truly consent to sex. Itâs a scary thought that they both put to the back of their brains when the psychiatrist tells them.
âItâs only going to get worse,â Kurt whispers to the air. Him and Blaine are sitting on their fire escape. âIâm only twenty-one, psychotic symptoms start in your early to mid twenties. Itâs only going to get worse.â
Blaine doesnât disagree, he simply kisses the top of his head and pulls a sedated Kurt into his arms.
âYouâll love me anyways?â Kurt asks.
âForever,â Blaine replies.
--
Forever lasts about two weeks until Kurt throws out his medication and posts nude photos of himself online.
âWhy would you do that?â Blaine shouts. âThose were private. Those were about us.â
âItâs my body,â Kurt yells back. âGod why canât I ever have any fucking fun anymore?â Kurt shouts nonsense, throwing his cellphone near Blaineâs head. It smashes into pieces and puts Blaine in shock.
âDid you just try to hit me?â Blaine asks venomously.
âI canât help it Blaine,â Kurt says sarcastically. âIâm a psychotic mess, remember?â
âThis isnât you,â Blaine says to himself. âThis isnât the man I married.â
âThen fuck off,â Kurt says nonchalantly. âItâs not like you actually ever loved me.â
Blaine walks out the door.
--
He walks back in about five minutes later. Kurt is painting something on his easel.
âIâm sorry,â Blaine says.
âI donât care,â Kurt says. âLet me have fun.â
âTake your pills,â Blaine says slowly. âI can get a refill, the pharmacy is just down the street--â
âWhy canât you just let me have fun for once?â Kurt yells. âYouâre not my dad!â
âThen stop acting like a child!â Blaine shouts. âIâm sorry, just--please. Take your meds.â
Kurt closes in on himself. âThey make me feel weird. Like nothing is real.â
Blaine sighs, hugging Kurt. âIts just for the first couple of weeks, I promise.â
Kurt nods, and Blaine takes the chance to drive them to the psychiatrist before Kurt can change his mind. Luckily they get there in time (thank god for same-day appointments) and Kurt agrees to take his medications. The psychiatrist pulls Blaine aside to tell him to monitor his medications regardless of what Kurt says. Basically tells him not to trust his own husband. The worst part is that deep down, Blaine knows that she is right.
âYouâll still love me?â Kurt asks as they walk to the parking lot.
âForever.â
-
Three weeks pass, and, with much fighting on both the husbands parts, Kurt does show small signs of improvement. Kurt can take his own medications, he doesnât feel like he is drowning in lithium. Itâs better. Itâs not perfect, but itâs better.
Blaine doesnât realize how much it has done a number on him until he comes home from work to see Kurt making dinner. Itâs just a simple pasta, but it means so much.
âYou cooked dinner,â Blaine says.
Kurt smiles, in an oversized sweater and loose ripped jeans he stirs the sauce. âSo you trust me around sharp objects again?â Kurt jokes.
Blaine doesnât find it funny. âKurt,â he says.
âSorry,â Kurt replies quietly. âIn case youâre wondering, no Iâm not better. Not completely. Iâll never be better. In a year or two I might develop schizophrenia and have to be sedated even more. I might never be able to work--or perform--â Kurtâs voice breaks at that last part. Blaine grabs his hand.
âWe will find a way. We always do.â
âAnd youâll still love me?â Kurt asks weakly.

klaine drabble, 600 words inspired by this gif/tags
After the invitationals-elevator debacle it takes them agood day to have another real conversation. When it does happen, however, itâsnot what either of them expected.
--
âDo you still find me attractive?â Kurt asks, looking down at the ground.
âWhat?â Blaine sputters, bewildered. âI-I donât think I can really answer that question, Kurt,â he replies honestly.
Kurt nods silently. âItâs okay if you donât,â he adds. âItâs justâwhen we were in the elevator, I know it meant nothing. Weâre both seeing people,â he rambles. âItâs thatâŚeven after we broke up I never doubted that you found me attractive? Itâs stupid and vain I knowââ
âItâs not stupid,â Blaine insists. He takes Kurtâs hand for a second, then drops it as if his hand was on fire. âItâs not stupid at all. I do, of course, still find you attractive. I just shouldnât admit it.â
âShouldnât?â Kurt repeats curiously.
âWeâre both seeing people,â Blaine echoes. âAnd I donâtâI donât love you anymore, Kurt.â
That stings, Kurt has to admit. He canât let it show though, and quickly brushes it over with a lie. âI donât love you either,â he manages to choke out. âI wasnât asking that. I wasnât propositioning you either, Blaine.â
âThen what did you want?â Blaine almost-yells. âSee? This is why we canât work out. We canât spend more than a couple hours together without fighting.â
âIn the elevator you were forced to kiss me,â Kurt says.
âIâm aware,â Blaine replies. âAnd your point is?â
âIâm just sorry, is all,â Kurt says quietly. âYou obviously didnât want to-to kiss me. I was just wondering if it was because weâre not together or if itâs because youâre repulsed by me or something,â Kurt admits, trying to play it off as a joke.
âKurt I didnât date you for your looks,â Blaine begins. Kurt looks more than a little affronted. âNoâlet me finish. I didnât date you for just your looks. The more I fell in love with you the more attracted to you I became.â
âAnd now that you donât love me?â Kurt prompts.
âYouâre still attractive to me, Kurt,â Blaine admits. âButâŚitâs different. Youâre hot in the same way that Nick Jonas is hot, or some random runway model. Itâs lessâŚintimate.â He explains. âSo, to answer your question, of course I find you attractive. You are incredibly attractive and you should know it. This break up broke a lot of things but if it broke the self-confidence youâve been building up for years then thatâs the real tragedy. It doesnât matter if you are hot to me though Kurt. Iâm with someone else. Thatâs enough to draw the line for me.â
âI guess it really is over between us, eh?â Kurt laughs quietly.
âTogether or apart youâre still the most important person to me,â Blaine says. âYouâre still my best friend. And Iâll always love you. Itâs just in a different way right now. I have to love myself first, you know?â
âAnd I have to learn to love myself I guess,â Kurt admits.
âPlease do, the world is a colder place when Kurt Hummel doesnât know love himself.â
âI donât even know if I like myself anymore,â Kurt replies hollowly. âBut Iâll figure it out, right?â
âExactly,â Blaine promises. âAnd just between you and meâas best friends?â Blaine pauses. âThat kiss was totally hot. Red-tube worthy, for sure.â
Kurt shoves him playfully in mock-astonishment. âYou are incredibly dirty, Blaine Anderson.â
âDonât you know it,â Blaine teases, looking Kurt up and down. His phone beeps and the moment is gone, âshit thatâs Dave, Iâm late to dinner,â Blaine says.
âSounds familiar,â Kurt replies coldly.
Blaine sighs, letting the comment go. âGive me a hug before I go, Iâve missed you.â
âIâve missed you too,â Kurt smiles, hugging Blaine in the all-too-familiar way that they used to have.
For once there is no awkward should-we-shouldnât-we or weird pats on the back. The embrace is short, but it signifies something. It signifies a new start.
summary: early!klaine having sex. Blaine comes too early, Kurt can't come at all. As always, the solution is fingering.
notes: read on ao3Â
Itâs been a littleâŚrough for them. Not like that, although Kurt is `100% willing to try that if they could at least get past third base.
âOhâoh god, Kurt, Kurt, shit,â and there he goes. Itâs been a lot easier for Blaine.
âI barley even touched you that time,â Kurt huffs.
âYeah but you did it with your mouth,â Blaine pants, looking up at Kurt. âIâm sorry, I really tried this time. Oh shit did I get any in your hair?â Kurtâs face morphs quickly into shock, he runs to Blaineâs mirror.
âBlaine Anderson I swear to godââ
So yeah, itâs not been going too well. This is only their third attempt though! And Kurt is definitely going to come the next time. Hopefully.
âWeâre trying,â Blaine offers, as Kurt walks into Blaineâs room, towelling his wet hair. âWe kind of have opposite problems, right?â
âRight,â Kurt replies hesitantly, walking over to put the face cream from his travel kit on his face. âSo what are you proposing?â
Blaine pauses, thinking. He isnât quite sure, but he doesnât want Kurt to go home unsatisfied for a third time. Itâs just not fair. âMaybe I could try going down on you? It feels really goodâlike way better than my hand. Maybe itâs not the why you canâtâŚyou know,â he pauses awkwardly as Kurt scowls at him â--but the how of the situation that we need to change? Maybe handjobs just donât get you off?
âOkay, maybe,â Kurt agrees. âSo wait, you want to do it now?â
âIf possible,â Blaine shrugs, walking over to Kurt. âI mean, you are already naked, right?â Blaine toys with knot of Kurtâs towel before Kurt nods and allows Blaine to undo it, having it fall to the ground. âGod you are so hot,â Blaine groans, looking at Kurtâs naked body, Kurt blushes uncomfortably.
âCan we just get under the covers?â Kurt says quickly.
âYeah, of course,â Blaine says, disappointed. He kind of hoped that this time Kurt would let him see his body for more than a couple seconds, but before he can protest the issue Kurt is already covered from the waist-down under Blaineâs bedspread. âUh, Kurt?â
âYes Blaine,â Kurt replies, looking at the ceiling, rather than his boyfriend.
âDo you really want me to give you a blowjobâŚunder two sheets and a duvet?â he asks. âI mean, you saw me when you wereâŚyou know, earlier?â
âYes well I guess we have different comfort levels,â Kurt says. âIf youâre not comfortableââ
âNo Iâm fine!â Blaine jumps in. âTotally fine,â he replies not wanting to scare Kurt off when heâs so close to getting that bit further with his adorable, sexy, albeit nervous, boyfriend. âShould I justââ Blaine gestures, lifting up the heavy covers.
âYeah,â Kurt breathes softly, letting his head fall into the pillows. Blaine crawls into the pitch-black darkness and tries to feel his way for Kurtâs cock. âAh!â Kurt squeaks when Blaineâs cold hand grasps the inside of his thigh. âCold hands,â he explains.
Blaine nods, but Kurt obviously canât see him so he says âOkay!â a bit loudly, since his voice is muffled from the covers. Eventually he is able to find Kurtâs (soft) cock and grabs it lightly, dryly stroking, trying to get Kurt hard. It obviously isnât works however, so he crawls up onto Kurt and pokes his head out to see a startled Kurt blinking back at him.
âYouâre on top of me,â Kurt says.
âYeah,â Blaine says awkwardly. âSorry about that, I justâI need lube.â
âFor what?â Kurt squeaks.
âTo jack you off,â Blaine explains. Kurt rolls his eyes and grabs for the lube at the side of their table.
âYou could put it a little less crudely,â he comments, before handing the lube to Blaine.
âSorry,â Blaine smiles, pecking Kurt on the lips before trying to go under the covers again.
âWaitââ Kurt interrupts. âCan you justâŚstay here?â he asks quietly. âAnd kiss me?â
âOf course,â Blaine says, dropping the lube somewhere beside Kurtâs head in favour to kiss Kurt softly on the lips. Instinctively, Kurtâs hips buck up a bit, knees rising to brace the sides of Blaineâs hips. âF-fuck,â Blaine chokes out. Kurt gasps, his eyes closed and his pink mouth slightly parted. Blaine leans in again, kissing Kurt with tongue this time. As he gets more into it, Kurt wraps his ankles around Blaineâs waist, allowing Blaine to grind down in a dry friction.
âMm, wait,â Blaine says in a daze. âYou havenât let me go down on you yet, and youâre definitely hard now,â he smiles. As if he were shocked, Kurt snaps out of whatever he was in, and the nervous look returns. âDo you not want me to go down on you?â Blaine asks. âItâs okay if thatâs not what you want,â Blaine says honestly.
âNo, I totally want it,â Kurt assures.
âOkay,â Blaine smiles, kissing Kurt one last time before crawling under the sheets again.
âYou forgot the lube,â Kurt comments.
âDonât need it anymore, youâre already hard,â Blaine comments. Itâs true, Blaine canât see it per se but he can totally feel it; itâs kind of awesome. Blaine covers his teeth with his lips and starts sucking on the head, bobbing lightly. Heâs not sure exactly what to do since all Kurt had to do was look up at him with his mouth partially on Blaineâs cock and he was done. He canât exactly tell Kurtâs reactions because of the covers, and he canât really see what heâs doing, but he figures itâs better than nothing. Hopefully Kurt is enjoying it more than he is (itâs really hot under his covers, and itâs getting kind of hard to breathe).
âBlaine?â he hears Kurt say.
âYes?â Blaine replies.
âCan you come up here? Youâve been at it for a while now and itâs just not working,â he says, embarrassed. Blaine crawls up again, this time beside Kurt rather than on top of him. What he sees is a tomato-red Kurt, with watery eyes.
âOh baby, donât cry,â Blaine coos.
âIâm just so embarrassedâand-andâfrustrated. I donât know why this is happening,â he admits. âHow are we supposed to be intimate if I canâtâŚâ
âCome?â
âYeah,â Kurt laughs humourlessly, looking at the ceiling instead of at Blaine. âI canât even say the word, god Iâm so stupid.â
âHey, none of that,â Blaine chastises. âMaybe youâre just not ready?â
âI donât think itâs that,â Kurt replies. âWhen we were kissing and you were on top of me I was kind of close, but it felt like something was missing? I donât know I guess Iâm just really nervous and insecure and when everything is focused on meâŚI get a little scared.â
âThat makes sense,â Blaine agrees. âMaybe weâre putting on too much pressure. What do you do when youâre on your own doing this?â Kurt doesnât respond, instead he refuses to meet Blaineâs gaze and shakes his head. âOkay, Iâll go first then? Unless that would make you uncomfortable?â
âNo, it might help,â Kurt says quietly.
âWell, um, haâyouâre right this is hard. I guess I think of you? Of what I want to do with you, and I usually just jack off with lube. Itâs nothing special, really. Sometimes I watch porn?â
âYou donâtââ Kurt cuts himself off before he can finish his question.
âI donâtâŚâ Blaine prompts.
âUmâŚhave you ever fingered yourself?â Kurt asks, works fumbling out to the point where Blaine isnât actually sure if what he heard is real until Kurt mutters a ânever mindâ and starts to get up.
âHeyâKurt, come on,â Blaine begs. âI havenât successfully done it, no. Itâs not something I enjoyed on my own, but if you wanted toââ
âOh god no I donât want to finger you,â Kurt says. âIâm notâI just meant,â he breaks off. âTo me, I meant to me?â
âOh, oh,â Blaine smiles. âOh wow, um yes. Yes I would love to. If thatâs what you want.â
âDo you think you can do it and kiss me at the same time? Or like be on top of me?â
âI can certainly try,â Blaine replies. âHave you done it to yourself?â Kurt is silent. âKurt Iâm not going to judge you. Youâve seen me come way too early like three times, I literally got it in your hair, Iâve sustained enough embarrassment for the both of us, and I promise I wonât judge you.â
âFine,â Kurt huffs. âI do that to myself sometimes. When I decide to masturbateâwhich isnât often mind youâI always oft forâŚthat.â
Blaine makes a chocked off sound. âFuck, that is so hot,â he says, kissing Kurt passionately whilst grabbing the lube. He separates from Kurt to uncap the bottle and messily spread it over three of his fingers. âHow many do you usually start off with?â he asks.
âOne, usually,â Kurt replies breathily. Blaine nods, kissing at Kurtâs neck softly (which elicits some amazing gasps from Kurt) and reaching his hand down to Kurtâs ass.
âHoney you have to spread your legs a little,â Blaine says, kissing Kurt under his jaw and down his neck and shoulder while Kurt adjusts his hips. âMmm, better. Iâm going to start now, okay?â
âOh godâokay,â Kurt breathes. âGo slow, and um, press your fingers up? That usually feels really good for meâoh fuck,â Kurt cuts off as Blaine slowly works his middle finger into Kurt. âOh god Blaine that feels so differentâso much deeper with you.â
âGood?â Blaine asks.
âY-yes, please justââ he cuts off to breathe. âIâm sorry Iâm a r-rush of nerves and arousal,â he laughs. âGo slow with one finger, it usually takes me a while to be ready for another, I have to be really relaxed andâand turned on,â he says the last part as quietly as possible.
Blaine follows Kurtâs instructions, kissing him softly and lovingly whilst Kurt gets used to one finger. It doesnât take long for Kurt to ask for another, making Blaine nervous that he might not be readyâor that he might hurt him. âAre you sure?â
âTrust me, I know my body, Blaine,â Kurt smiles, a spark of confidence in his words.
Blaine nods and works his index finger into Kurtâs asshole along with his middle finger, pumping slowly and pushing up like Kurt told him.
âH-holy fuck,â Kurt whines. âThere, massage upwards there and keep kissing me, fuck.â
Did I just find the prostate? Blaine asks himself silently, adhering to Kurtâs instructions and massaging up, making Kurt squeak and moan with pleasure.
âOh-oh god Blaine,â Kurt whines. âI love you so m-much, Iâm going toââ Blaine speeds up his motions, adding in a third finger easily, kissing Kurt hard. Kurt lets go then, coming with a broken whine. âOh fuck,â Kurt moans. âThat was better than Iâve ever been able to do,â he commends.
âGlad I could help,â Blaine jokes. âSo that wasâŚgood for you?â Kurt rolls to face Blaine on the bed, resting his head on Blaineâs chest.
âBlaine I am covered in my own come and still shaking with the amazing orgasm you just gave me; I am more than okay,â he says.
âGood,â Blaine replies. âAnd hey if this was good for anything, at least you can say âcomeâ and âorgasmâ now without turning into a total tomato!â
âAre you saying I look like a partial tomato right now, then?â Kurt quirks.
âItâs a very sexy tomato,â Blaine assures.
âOh well as long as itâs sexy,â Kurt replies sarcastically. âIâm really glad we tried this, despite my awkwardness.â
âMe too, I canât wait to spend forever finding different ways to make you come.â
âAnd hey, maybe one day youâll be able to wait three seconds before climaxing!â Kurt retorts.
âAnother job for another day,â Blaine replies with mock-whimsy. âRight now I just want to cuddle with my adorably sexy boyfriend until the come on both our bodies congeals completely and we have to wash up.â

âI cannot fucking believe this,â Kurt seethes, pacing the aged wooden floors of their studio.
âKurt, language,â Blaine gently reminds. The deadpan look Kurt gives him in return makes Blaine shut his mouth and think of a better response. âAt least we have water?â
âNot any hot water,â Kurt reminds. âHow could this happen? How could there be a flash snow storm that fucking cuts off our power, heat, and wifi? Itâs barely November for godâs sake!â
âItâs December 12thââ
âNot the point, Blaine,â Kurt says. âWhat are we going to do? Iâm already freezing, weâre stuck an art studio in the only non-gentrified part of the Junction so god knows weâre not getting a snow plow any time soon.â
âNeed I remind you we have turned this art studio into an actual apartment? Look over there, thereâs a kitchen and everything!â Blaine replies sarcastically. His boyfriend doesnât handle situations like this very well. Outside is literally hell frozen over, and even in a city as big as Toronto, they arenât getting takeout delivered tonight in this weather. Even if they could, they have no cell reception.
âIâm really cold, shit, pass me the blacks I need a smoke.â The pull of cherry-hinted smoke always calms him down in a crisis. Blaine isnât in the mood to see Kurt have a nic-fit either so he makes quick compliance. He tosses the smokes to Kurt, with a lighter, taking one for himself.
âLight me up?â Blaine says, voice muffled with the unlit-cigarette in his mouth.
âI could always just shot-gun you,â Kurt flirts.
âSecond hand smoke is bad for you, I heard,â Blaine replies. Kurt rolls his eyes and lights Blaineâs smoke. They inhale in silence for a bit before Kurt lies down, bumping his head lightly on the paint-stained floors of their studio.
âI canât believe we live together now,â Kurt muses. âAs, like, boyfriends. Itâs so weird.â
âTotally weird,â Blaine agrees. Neither of them had been the relationship type, theyâd just been friends. Then best friends. Then best friends who fucked, and now? Boyfriends. So weird. âI like it though,â he adds. Just as Blaine sees Kurt shiver again he thinks of something brilliant. âI have our Christmas presents in my printmaking station!â
âIn?â Kurt questions.
âI mean under,â Blaine corrects. âWhatever it doesnât matter,â he brushes off, getting up to find the unwrapped gifts for him and Kurt. âI was strolling down Queen Westââ
âEw, Blaine, what about our pact?â Kurt questions. âThe one about never shopping in over-gentrified areas?â
âChill out, I was at Black Market,â Blaine explains and Kurt lets it go. That store is still a municipal treasure, despite the UofT kids ruining it with their shopping exploits. âAnyways, they were having a sale and I thought it would be funny so I got usââ he breaks off to show off the presents. âThese!â
Kurt smiles. âYou got us ugly Christmas sweaters.â
âTheyâre ironic?â Blaine offers. âOh whatever donât pretend that you donât love it.â
âAre they vegan wool?â Kurt squints his eyes.
âOf course they are vegan wool Kurt, Iâm not an idiot,â Blaine scoffs. Well he thinks they are, probably. Why did Kurt have to become a vegan after they moved in together? âI got you the big oversized one because you look super sexy in oversized sweaters.â
âYouâre just hoping it falls off my shoulder,â Kurt smiles, holding up the sweater. âOkay this looks warm enough, and I left my coat at Rachelâs so Iâm game,â he says, putting on the sweater overtop his Sleater Kinney band tee.
âOh no,â Blaine says. âNope. You need to take that t-shirt off, youâre performing a fashion crime right now and Iâm not going to allow it.â
âOkay first of all, this is about function, not fashion,â Kurt says. âWe live together, I can look less than perfect around you now. Secondly, you are never to give me fashion advice, Blaine Anderson,â he scolds.
âPlease take it off?â Blaine pouts. âI promise Iâll find a better way of warming you up,â he continues, unbuttoning Kurtâs skinny jeans.
âOh Christ,â Kurt exasperates. âWe donât even have a bed here yet, Blaine,â Kurt argues. âIâm not sacrificing my back so we can have floor sex.â
âIâll give you the best back massage ever once weâre done,â Blaine promises.
âBack rubs donât help bruises, Blaine,â Kurt replies.
âLast time I checked you donât mind a couple bruises,â Blaine whispers into Kurtâs ear, kissing down his neck. âPlease take the shirt off?â
âFine,â Kurt says taking both the shirt and the sweater off, shivering. Blaine gets them completely naked in record time, kissing down Kurtâs stomach.
âWait,â Blaine says. âPut the sweater back on?â
âKinky,â Kurt replies, smirking. He puts the sweater back on, and it does fall off his shoulder. Blaine basically drools, sucks a hickey into the crook of Kurtâs neck. Blaine has always been able to find creative ways to keep warm. True to his word, Kurt is not cold after theyâre finished.
queen west - used to be a really cool artistic area, now it's been bought out by rich people and is like this really gross wannabe bohemian thing where rich hipsters can live for incredibly high rates to pretend to be artistic but in a safe way that their parents pay for
the junction - pretty cool, kinda rough, neighborhood. has a cool fleamarket. doesn't actually have that many lofts but its nice anyways
black market - a punk clothing shop on queen west. it's cool.
december 12th 2014 was a huge flash snow storm in toronto it was shitty for basically everyone because we all realized that winter has come and we're in fucking canada
blacks - these are a cloves cigarette brand that hipsters smoke. think of it like pbr in a nicotine variety. if you smoke you should try them, they're great and taste like cherry. also they are black. hence the name
printmaking station - totally not the right word for it. printmaking is cool though, and its like...there's a press and a sturdy bench, and i have no clue how blaine affords a fucking print making station maybe he killed a guy lets not question it
UofT - university of toronto - its a pretty snobby popular university in downtown torontoÂ

âCome on Blaine, letâs just do it. Itâs not like itâs something you havenât done before,â Kurt slurs, a bottle of whisky loosely gripped in his right hand.
Blaine sighs and brushes the pink stands of Kurtâs hair off his face, taking a second to caress his blushed cheek. Blaine wishes that Kurt could like him, publicly at least, without half a bottle of Jack in his system. But hey, not all wishes can come true, right?
âKurt youâre drunk,â Blaine chides softly. âIâm not having sex with you, I just came to your room to make sure you got to bed safely.â
Kurt huffs, pulling off his Misfits t-shirt, exposing his bare chest in a way sober-him would never be comfortable with. Knowing this, Blaine turns his back to Kurt out of respect.
âWhatâre ya doinâ?â Kurt mumbles, pulling Blaine to turn around. âMâ not embarrassed.â
âAnd you shouldnât be,â Blaine says, looking at the ground. âYouâre beautiful. But youâre drunk. I donât want anything clouding your judgement where Iâm involved.â
âI donât see any clouds,â Kurt retorts, completely missing the point. âThe stars are lovely tonight,â he says nonchalantly, lighting up a smoke and looking out of the window by his bed. âI wannaâ be one, one day. A star.â
âYou already shine brighter than anyone in this cow town,â Blaine says honestly. âI have no doubt that when you go to New York next year youâll outshine everyone at NYADA.â
âIâm not going to New York, Blaine,â Kurt admits âI didnât get in,â Kurt says quietly, looking at the ground. âWasnât good enough, I guess.â
âBullshit,â Blaine says with such severity that it sends shocks down Kurtâs spine.
âBlaine Anderson did you just swear?â Kurt teases.
âBullshit,â Blaine repeats, grabbing Kurtâs face to make him look Blaine in the eye. âYou are the most beautiful, talented, interesting person I will ever meet. That school isnât shit if it wonât take you.â
âI think your judgement is clouded,â Kurt says. âThey only take in 20 people, Iâm a tattooed, dyed mess. Of course they didnât take me.â
âTheyâre idiots,â Blaine says simply. âAnd youâre still going to New York. That city was built for people like you. School or no school, you have to go. I canât let you stay here.â
âAnd what about you?â Kurt challenges, sobering up.
âIâm nothing special, Kurt,â Blaine says. âYouâll forget about me two months after moving there. Iâll just be an embarrassing memoryââ
âYou stop that,â Kurt snaps. âYou are not an embarrassmentââ
âThen why wonât you kiss me in public?â Blaine yells back. âOr sober for that matter.â He spits. âIâm not good enough for you, Kurt. I know it. Just stop making it seem like I have a chance.â
âBlaine of course you have a chance,â Kurt says. âI know Iâm a bit drunk and youâre pissed but I care about you. I think I could even love you,â he admits.
âThe alcohol is clouding your judgement,â Blaine repeats.
âNothing is clouding my judgement except my feelings for you,â Kurt insists. âYouâre right, I shouldnât lose my virginity while drunk. But youâre wrong in thinking that I donât care about you just as much as you do me.â
âAnd when youâre sober will you think the same way?â Blaine asks.
âCome cuddle me tonight,â Kurt says, almost childishly. He puts on an oversized shirt and takes off his jeans, crawling into bed. He leave a spot open for Blaine to join him. âTomorrow weâll talk. But tonight letâs just have this,â he says. âThis is what I need.â
Blaine relents, crawling into Kurtâs bed, facing him. He holds Kurtâs waist tight, allowing Kurt to rest his forehead on Blaineâs chest. âIâll give you everything you need so much as I can,â Blaine murmurs into his hair before falling asleep as well.
Tomorrow might bring a hangover and some regrets, but telling Blaine that he loves him is not one of them. Not at all.Â
aka the three times Kurt loses his balance and the one time he finds it.

(warning this is a 4x04 reaction fic)
Everything is justâŚwrong. Off kilter. He doesnât know how to feel; for the first time in his life Blaine has swept him off his feet and not been there to catch him when he falls.
Swept off my feet, he muses. More like tossed off a cliff.
When Blaine told him that heâd cheated, he felt like his entire world had been turned upside down. Heâs still waiting for that feeling to stop, waiting for the balance to come back. For him to forgive Blaine, for them to be together again. Try as he may, right now at least, he just canât. Blaine had sex with another man, while Kurt was off trying to make a career for himself. Heâs being punished forâŚfor what? For not answering a call or two? For not putting Blaine ahead of his job? He feels sick.
He checks his phone; 17 texts from Blaine. He deletes them all. The flowers, delivered to his office really cut deep. Red and yellow, as if Blaine had to corrupt every good moment theyâve had. He hates himself for hating Blaine. He loves Blaine and he canât imagine being without him, the thought literally makes him break down; he canât even think of it. Itâs reality though; he canât be with Blaine. Not right now anyways, the wound is too deep. It feels like heâs literally had his heart cut out, the pain of losing Blaine isnât just mental. Kurt is physically hurting with loss.
--
Kurt thought the balance would be restored when he called Blaine on thanksgiving. Theyâd said they love each other; that theyâd work on talking about their issues. Apparently talk is cheap then, because while he does feel like a weight had been lifted, he still feels like his world is terribly off kilter. Maybe there is no fix to this.
--
Kurt literally loses his balance with Blaine on Christmas. Theyâre skating together, just finishing their duet, and Kurt stumbles. He reaches for the rail of the ice rink but itâs too far away; heâs going to fall. Just before he hits the ground, however, a strong hand is grasping his waist pulling him up.
âDo you think Iâd let you fall?â Blaine teases.
âOf course not,â Kurt lies.
Blaine frowns, not removing his arms from Kurtâs waist. âIâm always going to be there when you fall,â he says.
âYou werenât,â Kurt says seriously.
âI will now,â Blaine promises.
And for once since this terrible incident, Kurt believes him.
--
Itâs like everything blurring into focus. Blaine on one knee, all his friends and family surrounding him after possibly the greatest spectacle of Kurtâs life (which is saying something since he lives in Bushwick). Theyâre way too young, incredibly stupid, with barely a chance in the world. Thereâs no way it would work.
He still says yes. Blaine kisses him, puts the ring on his finger. Kurt cries, everyone else cheers, and suddenly, as if he was waking up from a dream (or a nightmare) he finally feels like he is on solid ground.
âBaby whatâs wrong?â Blaine attempts to rush to Kurtâs aid before realizing exactly why Kurt had stopped so suddenly in his tracks. âOw.â
âYou too?â Kurt asks. âWhat the hell you didnât evenâwell you know."
âGood morning,â Blaine smiles, looking up at Kurt in his bed. The bed that they had sex in for the first time last night. Needless to say, Blaine is beamingly happy waking up next to Kurt.
âMm, morning,â Kurt yawns, looking into Blaineâs eyes. âLast night wasâŚâ he trails off.
âAmazing?â Blaine supplies. âAwe-inspiring? Oh! How aboutââ
âBlaine.â Kurt deadpans.
âSorry,â Blaine laughs gently, putting his arms around Kurtâs waist to get them closer together. âBut seriously, was itâŚâ
âWhat it what?â Kurt teases. âAwe-inspiring?â
âGood?â Blaine offers. âOr at least not terrible?â he blushes.
Kurt rolls his eyes, âIt was amazing for me too,â he relents. âWaitâit was good for you too right becauseââ
âKurt,â Blaine interrupts. âIt was amazing. I love you so much.â
âI love you too,â Kurt replies softly, leaning down to kiss Blaine. âAnd last night was everything Iâd hoped it would be. Even if Iâm still bad at talking about this sort of stuff I can admit that. Also that I need to brush my teeth so I can kiss you properly,â he winks, moving to get off the bed. Before he can make two steps towards the washroom, however, he stops in his tracks and makes a very indignant sound.
âBaby whatâs wrong?â Blaine attempts to rush to Kurtâs aid before realizing exactly why Kurt had stopped so suddenly in his tracks. âOw.â
âYou too?â Kurt asks. âWhat the hell you didnât evenâwell you know.â
âI know,â Blaine teases, although his voice is strained with the pain of working his sore muscles too quickly. âItâs not like we did acrobatics last night what the hell?â
âI donât know,â Kurt replies before flopping down on the bed. âBut Iâm not moving, my everything hurts.â
âMine too,â Blaine replies sadly. âWe need advil,â he decides.
âDo you want to be the one to get up?â Kurt quirks his eyebrow.
Blaine huffs, stiffly walking out of his room. âThis is insane we are dancers! We exercise every day and do incredibly complicated choreography so how is it that my upper back feels like itâs broken?â
âBetter than my lower back,â Kurt mumbles. âGod my neck feels like I got strangled I swear to god,â Kurt moans.
Blaine goes stock still, âUhhâŚâ
âBlaine Anderson I told you not to leave any marksâ
âIâm sorry!â Blaine says. âItâs just your neck wasâŚthere and it wasâŚyou know...you. Your skin. Brain. Mush.â
âIs the caveman speak over?â Kurt asks, still feigning annoyance. Blaine nods. âOkay youâre lucky this is November otherwise I would be so pissed.â Kurt relents. âYou owe me advil and breakfast now though.â He adds.
âFor you? Anything,â Blaine says, leaning down to kiss Kurt before seizing up. âOw.â
âAdvil first then kisses?â Kurt asks sympathetically.
âAdvil first,â Blaine agrees. âI love you,â he calls out.
Kurt returns it, smiling at the ceiling. Heâs never been so happy.Â

Kelliot "This awkard first date just got even more awkward because I fucked the waiter serving us last night" au (Sebastian is the waiter, pretty light on the Sebastian mentions though.)
Word count: 1200~
Elliott is very cute, smart, and has this way of being nerdy and punk that the same time that makes Kurt very intrigued. He is a singer, but he isnât bitchy. Heâs gay, but he isnât catty or disgustingly heteronormative like the last guy he dated who actually started a fight because he felt that Kurt has âhurt his masculinityâ. The breakup had followed soon after. Kurt isnât exactly in mourning, but the wound is still healing. He needs something completely different; and different is definitely something Elliott can offer.
Basically, Elliott is super great; he is hot, smart, and Kurt really feels a spark with him. But their first date? Yeah, not so much. It's just so awkward. Kurt is new to the dating thing after being off the market so long. Elliott is older, but also hasnât had the time to date seriously until now. Of course then at the mention of the word âseriousâ Kurt freaks outâjust a little bitâwhich Elliott picks up on, which then leads them into one of their many awkward silences while waiting for the waiter who seems to be taking forever.
âCan I get yourâoh god,â the waiter says. At first Kurt is confused; but then he looks up and sees the face belonging to the guy he had pounding into him last night. The face that Kurt may have left in the middle of the night to avoid a conversation.
So maybe the date could get worse.
âOh god,â Kurt groans, burying his face into his hands. This canât be happening.
âYeah Iâll get the veggie lasagne with no onions,â Elliott says casually, obviously not picking up on the situation.
âUm, okay,â the waiter says, remembering his job suddenly and penciling in the order. âUh Iâm Sebastian and I will be your waiter tonight,â he says awkwardly.
Sebastian, Kurt thinks is an interesting name. He canât remember if the guy ever told him his name. The fact that he canât even remember the name of the guy he slept with last night dawns on him; Oh god I really am a slut.
âI will have theââ
âI didnât know you had a boyfriend,â Sebastian cuts in icily.
âHeâs notââ Kurt begins.
âIâm sorry do you two know each other?â Elliott asks innocently.
âOh he knows me alright,â Sebastian smiles.
âI will have the baked mac and cheese now please, for the love of god, leave,â Kurt says, kicking himself that he was just rude to a service worker--in rhymes, no less. Â âSorry about that,â Kurt says, trying to mask what is going on.
âSo you slept with the waiter?â Elliott asks nonchalantly. âDidnât take you for a one-night-stander, gotta say,â he says, smiling.
âIâm not a slut!â Kurt practically yells, bringing attention to the table. âIâm not a slut,â he repeats quieter. âI justâŚhad a lot to drink last nightââ
âWait last night?â Elliott asks incredulously. âYou slept with some guy last night and then went on a date with me the night after?â
âItâs not what it sounds like?â Kurt asks. âYou probably want to go now,â he says quietly.
Elliott gives Kurt a considering look before huffing out a sigh, âNah, Iâm good here. Just donât think Iâm going to give it up on the first date.â
âYouâre really not going to leave?â Kurt asks disbelievingly. âItâs not like I was exactly good conversation before this.â
âBut,â Elliott counters. âYou are good conversation now. Or at least interesting conversation.â
âOh god please do not use the words interesting in regards to me, I swear the word is cursed,â Kurt says solemnly.
âCursed, really?â Elliott asks in a judgmental tone. âNow I must hear the story behind that.â
âMore like stories,â Kurt muses. âThe first time I was called interesting it lead to me going to a terrible seedy gay bar and having my first boyfriend try to get me to lose my virginity to him in a car.â
âUgh what an ass,â Elliott replies.
âEh, we were all shitty in high school,â Kurt brushes off. âSo the second time I tried to be âinterestingâ I ended up drinking two shots of Limoncello and got my firstâand onlyâtattoo.â
âThatâs not too badââ
âI havenât finished yet,â Kurt says. âIt was spelled wrong. I got so drunk off of two shots of soft liquor I couldnât even spell âIt Gets Betterâ on a keyboardâI ended up with âItâs Get Betterââ
âNo way, so you still have that on your body?â Elliott asks with disbeliefâKurt Hummel is more of an anomaly than he thought.
âNo I got it changed to âItâs Got Bette Middlerâ actually,â Kurt says casually.
âYou are incredible,â Elliott says, in lieu of a proper response.
âIncredible, yes. But I make bad decisions when I try to be âinterestingââ Kurt replies.
âSpeaking of,â the waiterâSebastian says awkwardly. âSo I forgot to ask if you wanted anything to drink, your carbs are coming soon.â
âWow thank you for being oh so helpful,â Kurt drawls sarcastically. âIâll have a diet coke.â
âYeah good idea staying away from alcohol, heard it does terrible things to you,â Sebastian replies.
âDefinitely impairs my judgement,â Kurt bites back. And seriously who does this guy think he is?
âI thought youâd be more of a Sherly Temple kinda guy after last night, actually,â Sebastian bites back. âBut of course I can get you that diet coke. Anything for you, one-night-stand number two?â
âMaybe a manager to inform about how rude our server is?â Elliott replies calmly.
âYeah, my dad is the managerâs bossâs boss so I donât think that would really make a difference. Plus I always give my tips to the other staff, itâs not like I need them. This is punishment for spending too much money on my dadâs credit card so please, go ahead and tell my manager.â
âJesus Christ,â Kurt mutters.
âYou seemed to say that a lot lastââ
âDo not even finish that sentence,â Kurt says pointedly. âPlease just get me some fucking carbs and a diet coke.â
âRight on it!â
âIâm sorry,â Kurt says. âI was actually a waiter for two years Iâm never rude to service staff butââ
âI get it,â Elliott says. âThat guy is an ass. Remind me to not take you out clubbing any time soon though.â
âOkay,â Kurt laughs.
âAnd also know that Iâm still not putting out on the first date,â Elliot says with mock-seriousness.
âYou donât have to worry about that. Iâm going to have to scrub my mind with bleach to forget last night, until then I canât even fathom having sex. Especially meaningless.â
âThat works for me,â Elliott says.
âReally,â Kurt drawls, disbelievingly.
âActually, yeah,â Elliott replies.
âOkay, I can roll with that,â Kurt smiles. âBut you have to promise to never bring up tonight again or that wretched waiter.â
âSpeaking of,â Elliott groans.
âYour carbs,â Sebastian offers, speaking sarcastically, of course.
âMy hero,â
âNah just a one night stand,â Sebastian says. âDonât worry those are what I go for anyways. But be warnedâspikey haired guy? Yeah this one is a screamerââ
âI think you can leave now,â Elliott replies politely. âWeâll pay at the register, donât worry.â Sebastian leaves, smirking at Kurt the entire time.
âWell that was an adventure,â Kurt sighs.
âHereâs to more,â Elliott raises his cup of water to clink with Kurtâs diet coke.
He didn't realize that becoming Blaineâs boyfriend meant that he can no longer be his best friend.
Early!Klaine 1600 words. AO3
Their first fight shouldnât be as big of a deal as it is. Itâs stupid, or at least it starts off as stupid. Blaine has to cancel one of their dates because Trent has a last-minute audition and needs help. Itâs not like it is a super important date, just a night out at Breadstyx, something they can do anytime. Still, Kurt pouts and Blaine takes it too seriously, and then suddenly, they are fighting.
âI donât see why this is a big deal Kurt, Trent is my best friendââ
âOh,â Kurt says in a hollow tone, curling in on himself a bit.
âWhat?â Blaine asks, angry tone disappearing the moment he hears Kurtâs voice crack.
âItâs nothing,â Kurt deflects. âGo help Trent.â
âKurtââ
âJust go okay? Iâm not mad,â he says. Itâs true, he isnât mad. He just didnât realize that becoming Blaineâs boyfriend meant that he can no longer be his best friend.
It makes sense though, Kurt realizes. Ever since they got together (which is still extremely amazing and Kurt swoons just thinking of it) everything theyâve done together has been romantic. Everything is either a date or related to school. They never have coffee, itâs always a coffee âdateâ, same goes with shopping, dinner, movies; pretty much everything.
Kurt would go crazy if he spent all his time with Blaine his âboyfriendâ, and none with his girlfriends. He understands that they need alone time (Kurt probably more than Blaine, actually.) Before Blaine kissed him however they were best friends, right? He never thought gaining a boyfriend meant losing his best friend.
Even if itâs just a silly title, their friendship means so much to him and now do they even have one? When was the last time they just hung out? He understands the whole ââhoneymoon phaseââ thing and he isnât complaining, but he wants his best friend back. He doesnât want anyone else to have that title. Call him greedy but he isnât giving up their friendship, it means too much to him.
âBlaine can we talk?â Kurt asks, the day after their fight.
âYeah, of course,â Blaine says, wiping the sweat off his hands on his pants before taking Kurtâs. âWhere do you want to go?â
âWell no one is home at my place we could go there?â
âOh, okay,â Blaine says, shaking his head. âIs thisâis this about our fight yesterday because Iâm really sorryââ
âYes it is,â Kurt says softly. âItâs nothing bad, the fight was stupid. It just made me realize something.â
âOh,â Blaine says quietly.
âNothing bad,â Kurt reassures. âI mean yes itâs something bad but not like bad, you know?â
âI think so?â Blaine questions. He is never completely sure of anything with Kurt.
They reach Kurtâs place pretty quickly thanks to them beating rush hour, and head up to Kurtâs room.
âIâm not sure if Burt would approve of us being in your room, alone, with the door closed,â Blaine comments.
âRelax Blaine Iâm not brining you here for nefarious purposes, we can move down to the living room if you want, I just wanted to make sure we have privacy in case someone comes home,â he says, sitting on his bed and gesturing for Blaine to do the same.
âOkay,â Blaine relents. âSo whatâs up?â He asks, a bit wearily, fearing the worst. Kurt doesnât say anything at first prompting Blaine to clear his throat so Kurt will speak up. âWhatâs on your mind?â
âI just donât want to seem stupid, is all,â Kurt says quietly.
âWell youâre kind of freaking me out,â Blaine says quickly. âDid I do something wrong? LikeâŚserious-wrong? Aside from cancel our date? Or was cancelling our date a really terrible thing to do?â He rambles. âIâm new to this and I didnât think that through and Iâm really sorry but please donât break up with me for something like thatââ
âBreak up with you?â Kurt squeaks. âNo, of course Iâm not breaking up with you. Is that what you thought?â
âYou seemed really hurt last night,â Blaine says. âI wasnât sure what Iâd be facing today. If I had known it meant that much to youââ
âIt didnât,â Kurt says.
âThen whyââ
âBlaine just let me explain okay?â Blaine nods, Kurt continues. âI wasnât even mad when you cancelled I was just pouting toâI donât knowâbe cute? Or something.â
âYouâre always cute,â Blaine smiles.
âYou too,â he says, blushing. âI guess what hurt me was thatâŚâ He trails off. âOh god this sounds so stupid letâs just forgetââ
âKurt,â Blaine says emphatically.
âFine, okay,â Kurt mumbles. He sits down beside Blaine, taking his hand. âI guess I was hurt that you called Trent your best friend?â
âWhat?â Blaine says, confused. âBut he isââ
âI thought I was,â Kurt admits. âYour best friend, that is.â
âOh,â Blaine says quietly. âBut youâre my boyfriend?â
âI thought I was both,â Kurt says, and since Blaine isnât trying to rephrase or say that Kurt is that for him he rambles, a bit. âIt doesnât matter,â he says. âI donât know why I thoughtâit doesnât matter.â
âIt obviously matters to you,â Blaine says sincerely.
âNo it doesnât. I have Mercedes, and Rachel, and lots of friends, it doesnâtâit doesnât matter,â he denies. âI guess we werenât as close as I thought we were.â
âKurtââ
âNo! Itâs okay! I guess I thought after everything we went through, I donât know,â heâs shaking now, with embarrassment and hurt. Maybe they shouldnât have had this conversation. âItâs getting lateââ
âItâs four pm,â Blaine retaliates. âI didnât mean to hurt you, I care about you so much,â he says. âI just always saw you in another category. Of course we were friends but you were something different from the moment I met you. Weâve never really been just friends, I may have taken a while to realize it, but I never saw as just friends.â
âNeither did I,â Kurt says. âBut you were my best friend. Still are. Even if Iâm not yours, and I miss doing friendship things with you. As much as I love kissing you and cuddling I miss us just hanging out. I hate that everything seemed to have changed when it didnât need to.â
âIâm sorry, I didnât know everything did change,â Blaine says. âWe can still hang out without it being a date.â
âBut we havenât been,â Kurt points out. âI justâŚIâm new to this, you know that. I know you are too but I miss us being friends there are so many expectations now and I feel so overwhelmed sometimes and itâs only been two months, you know? We canât lie on my bed and read vogue together anymore or be brutally honest because weâre so scared that itâs going to mean something different or that weâll mess this up.â
âI didnât know you felt that way,â Blaine says.
âYou canât even admit that you donât see me as a best friend because youâre scared of hurting my feelings.â
âYou are my best friend though,â Blaine says, Kurt laughs.
âBlaine just because Iâm not happy about itââ
âYou are,â Blaine insists. âI havenât trusted anyone hereânot one personâthe way I have trusted you. The Warblers see me as their flawless leader, you just see me as Blaine. Of course you are my best friend, Kurt. I never thought about it much but of course you are.â
Kurt is silent for a moment, trying to calm the rush of emotions heâs feeling. âWe need to find out how to balance this better, Blaine,â he says finally. I see too many of my friendsâ relationships just suck because hanging out with their significant other turns out to be more of a chore than a pleasure, and they just want to spend all their time with their âbrosâ and do nothing but complain about how they have to do all these things to be a good boyfriend or girlfriend. I hate that, I want to yell at them, ask them why they are even in a relationship if they hate it so much. Iâm not dating you because I want a boyfriend, Blaine. Iâm dating you because I honest-to-god like you and because youâre my best friendââ
âIâm also pretty good looking,â Blaine says cheekily.
âThat too,â Kurt smirks. âDo you know what I mean though? I donât want to sacrifice our friendship for kisses and dates.â
âI donât either,â Blaine agrees. âBut I still want kisses and dates,â he says. âYou do tooâŚright?â
Kurt kisses him softly. âI could never give up the opportunity to do that,â he says shyly. âOr this,â he adds, kissing Blaine a little harder until Blaine grips his jaw and parts his lips, sparks running down his spine as Blaineâs tongue meets his. He always thought it would feel gross to do this, but with Blaine itâs amazing. Kurt lets out an embarrassing whine before pulling away. âOkay enough of that, what would my father say?â
âGood point,â Blaine agrees, hopping off Kurtâs bed to sit at his vanity instead. âWeâre going to get better at this, I promise,â he says. âIn fact, tomorrow weâre going to watch Project Runway in our lounge clothes and eat popcorn and critique all the worst outfits and weâre not going to worry about whether we look presentable or not because weâre comfortable enough with each other to look a little silly and still want to kiss each other during the commercial breaks, okay?â
âThat is a very detailed plan and Iâm impressed you said it all in one breath,â Kurt says. âExcept weâll be kissing during more than just the commercial breaks, of course.â
âOf course,â Blaine agrees. âI could never resist you anyways,â he smiles, walking back to kiss Kurt again.
