STEP TWO: The Drop-Through

The drop-through is one of the most recent innovations in the sport. It's main characteristics are the slots at each end of the board. These allow you to  have the baseplate of your trucks over the board, making it lower to the ground in comparison to the classic topmount.

The reason? 

In any sport, you will be told that a lower centre of gravity means more stability at speed. It also makes it remarkably easier to push giving you the advantage in a race.

However, it may be more stable but it restricts your trucks in their turn. Although, the "beauty of the drop-through" is the possibility to mount it like a top-mount.

Drop-throughs are recommended for the advanced rider.

As a freerider, the choice of board is crucial. The first board you pick will determine how you move on into more advanced riding. For the purpose of making the right choice, we will go through these in steps.

STEP ONE: The Topmount

The topmount is the most basic type of board. Like the classic skateboard, the trucks are mounted directly onto the bottom of the board meaning that the ride-height depends on the trucks height and the boards thickness.
