y/n knew she was in trouble the moment billie walked in.
because she was late, but because she stopped by y/n’s desk first. no greeting. no comment. just a pause long enough to be felt.
“morning”, billie said finally, eyes unreadable as she stepped into y/n’s cubicle.
y/n looked up. “you’re blocking my screen.”
“am i?” billie leaned closer instead of moving away. “you should really lock it when you’re not working.”
billie hummed, unconvinced, then walked off like she hadn’t just invaded y/n’s personal space on purpose.
billie spent the morning bothering y/n everywhere. she hovered during meetings, standing just behind y/n’s chair breathing a tad too close to her neck instead of taking an empty seat. every time she spoke, her hand rested on the back of y/n’s chair, possessive and casual in a way she couldn’t ignore.
at one point, billie leaned down under the pretense of pointing at something on y/n’s screen. her voice dropped.
“you’re staring again,” she murmured.
y/n’s fingers slipped on the mouse. “i’m literally looking at the data you sent.”
“mhm.” billie’s breath brushed her ear. “that’s what you said yesterday too.”
“i wasn’t staring at you yesterday and i’m sure not doing it again today” y/n spits back, determined not to let billie frazzle her again.
“i did see you looking at my shirt a few times today. if i had something dirty on it, you could’ve just told me.” y/n added.
“nope, you just gotta close those buttons all the way up so people don’t get distracted.” billie said, fingers lightly grazing at the fabric covering y/n’s shoulders.
“not my fault you were too busy staring at cleavage instead of working.” y/n added.
“relax. if i wanted you distracted i’d be way less subtle.” billie says, mouth slightly hovering over y/n’s neck before leaving quietly.
