There's something to be said about the fact that Dante is the one who has complicated feelings about Sparda, often says that he's paying for his dad's sins and literally disowned any connection to him when he was young. And yet, Dante is the one that makes demons shudder because all they see is Sparda in him. But Vergil, the one who abandoned his humanity to embrace the demon half given to him by Sparda, will probably only be known as Nelo Angelo to demons. They'll only know him as Mundus' puppet, the knight who replaced Sparda in Mundus' court
It is really important to me that all of you learn about Al Bean, astronaut on Apollo 12 and the fourth man to walk on the moon, who after 20 years in the US Navy and 18 years with NASA during which he spent 69 days in space and more than 10 hours doing EVAs on the moon , retired to become a painter.
He is my favorite astronaut for any number of reasons, but he’s also one of my favorite visual artists.
Like, look at this stuff????
It’s all so expressive and textured and colorful! He literally painted his own experience on the moon! And that's just really fucking cool to me!
Just look at this! This is one of my absolute favorite emotions of all time. Is Anyone Out There? is like the ultimate reaction image. Any time I have an existential crisis, this is how I picture myself.
And then there's this one:
The Fantasy
For all of the six Apollo missions to land on the moon, there was no spare time. Every second of their time on the surface was budgeted to perfection: sleeping, eating, putting on the suits, entering and exiting the LEM, rock collection, setting up longterm experiments to transmit data back to Earth, everything. These timetables usually got screwed over by something, but for the most part the astronauts stuck to them.
The crew of Apollo 12 (Pete Conrad, Al Bean, and Dick Gordon) had other plans. Conrad and Bean had snuck a small camera with a timer into the LEM to take a couple pictures together on the moon throughout the mission. They had hidden the key for the timer in one of the rock collection bags, with the idea being to grab the key soon after landing, take some fun photos here and there, and then sneak the camera back to Earth to develop them. They had practiced where they would hide the key and how to get it out from under the collected rocks back on Earth dozens of times.
But when they got to the moon, the key was nowhere to be found. Al Bean spent precious time digging through the collection bags before he called it off. The camera had been pushing their luck anyways, he couldn't afford to spend anymore time not on the mission objectives. Conrad and Bean continued the mission as per the NASA plan while Dick Gordon orbited overhead.
Fast forward to the very end of the mission. Bean and Conrad are doing last checks of the LEM before they enter for the last time and depart from the moon. As Bean is stowing one of the collection bags, the camera key falls out. The unofficially planned photo time has come and gone, and he tosses the key over his shoulder to rest forever on the surface of the moon.
This painting, The Fantasy, is that moment. There have never been three people on the moon at the same time, there was never an unofficial photo shoot on the moon, this picture could never have happened.
"The most experienced astronaut was designated commander, in charge of all aspects of the mission, including flying the lunar module. Prudent thinking suggested that the next-most-experienced crew member be assigned to take care of the command module, since it was our only way back home. Pete had flown two Gemini flights, the second with Dick as his crewmate. This left the least experienced - me - to accompany the commander on the lunar surface.
"I was the rookie. I had not flown at all; yet I got the prize assignment. But not once during the three years of training which preceded our mission did Dick say that it wasn't fair and that he wished he could walk on the moon, too. I do not have his unwavering discipline or strength of character.
"We often fantasized about Dick's joining us on the moon but we never found a way. In my paintings, though, I can have it my way. Now, at last, our best friend has come the last sixty miles." - Al Bean, about The Fantasy.

To be honest, this one
Almost made me cry right now.
I love it. Something about it feels so incredibly human. The emotion on display, even without a face to show it. This is magnificent. Truly magnificent. I feel it in my soul.
My sister wanted me to draw Nero👀
This was a deleted scene in the crossover episode (trust)
It took me forever to dig this out of my camera roll

NEVER flip your canvas. That's valuable time you could be using to draw everything at a slant.
Thinking about Dante and how intense his Daddy Issues probably are. Like, he was eight, his father had disappeared, demons attacked their home looking for him, and then he watched his mother be slaughtered by said demons, and his twin is also probably dead, too. All because they were after Sparda.
Then ten years later Vergil pops back up, surprisingly not dead, but he's hunting down whatever is left of Sparda's power. Even after all these years, the ghost of Sparda is haunting Dante's life. And then Vergil chooses to fall into Hell, because "this was our father's home." So now he's lost his mother and his brother twice over, because of Sparda.
Not even to mention that every demon out there is shouting and screaming about how he's Sparda Blood, the Son of the Traitor, how they're going to kill him because of what his father did.
He's lured to Mallet Island and forced into a game of cat and mouse by Mundus, oh and because he hated Dante's father so much, when he got his hands on Vergil, he took him apart and pieced him back together how he wanted. Just so he could say that he'd broken Sparda's eldest son.
So now, because of who his father is, Dante's been hunted down his whole life, his mother's been killed, his brother's been twisted up so bad that Dante is forced to kill him, and, oh, the poor man is absolutely exhausted.
He probably hates that guy. I think, if Sparda ever actually came back, Dante would be the more angry twin, and Vergil would just be sad. Cause Vergil wants his father's approval so, so bad, but Dante? he's only ever suffered because of Sparda.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Nelo Angelo recently…
RWBY/CRWBY Information Sources Index
Previously, I recommend to see the Documentary Trilogy made by @hypeathon about the story behind RWBY's conception, inspirations and creative process during V1-V6 and the original intentions and values that Monty wanted to transmit with his project and how the CRWBY kept them with the time (I trust me when I say that don't let yourself trick by the title, this videos are a wonderful tribute to all CRWBY's members equally 🫶)
The case is that in the end of the thirst part and the description of his playlist, he talked about how he created a Google Drive Archive with all the information sources that he used to substantiate his analysis, for anyone who wants to have his own perspective about the subject.
What Exactly Was Monty Oum’s Vision for RWBY? - Lists of Sources Welcome! If you’ve stumbled into this, then chances are, you’ve either hav
However, he is not the only user who made the effort to collect all the possible information sources about the work and behind-the-scenes process of the serie to help the users who maybe are interesting in know about these things. Other example is the australian user Cgangraputor, who made a full compilation with all the confirmed credits behind almost every scenes in RWBY (and RWBY/Justice League movies), through sources like the Director’s Commentaries, Interviews, Livestreams, Social Networks, etc.
And the user @bestworstcase who shared a MEGA Archive with every RWBY official content, literally: the principal show, spin-offs, dubs, mangas, comics and of course, all the Behind-the-scenes content what was exclusive available in Rooster Teeth webside: The two seasons of CRWBY: Behind the Scenes and RWBY Rewind, that the other way could being lost, Talk CRWBY to Me and the RWBY 10 Years Later Anniversary Video.
In my case, I simply make a couple playlists with all the CRWBY videoblogs and RWBY Rewind episodes that still available on YouTube, and the little RWBY Roundtable series about the details behind the develop of Volume 9.
For the last, one of the most interesting but ignored sources at the same time, are the Crew’s commentaries in the RWBY DVD and Blu-ray releases. Fortunately, a lot of fans throughout the years have made some transcripts and shared summaries/notes posts with the points and facts sharing on the audio commentaries:
Volume 1 Commentaries Transcript
Volume 2 Partial Transcript
Volume 3 Summary and Notes
Volume 4 Summary and Notes
Volume 5 Summary and Notes
Volume 6 Summary and Notes
Volume 7 Transcript
Volume 8 Summary and Notes
Volume 9 Notes and Behind Scenes Content
The reason why I make this post is to help to any possible fans or even creator’s content who are maybe interesting in know the process, inspirations, or original intentions of the CRWBY at the moment of develop and create the series, as well as the merit and circumstances behind his creative process, since I think is a fact that a lot of people maybe don’t have the patience to research all this information for themself or simply don’t know about this sources or where to find it. So, I hope that maybe this index could help others to know better the deep and complex story about RWBY’s creation.
