i say this as a lifelong, die hard carpenters fan who read karen carpenter's biography when i was in 8th grade, but
the hyper clean cut, almost eerily pure sound of their music often makes me imagine edd's parents being big carpenters fans lmao. it's absolutely not a diss on the carpenters, it's just that the music is, again, very clean cut, very americana, very... "mayo is spicy" 😭 like their music was certainly never risque, which fits perfectly with the image i have of edds parents as very clinical people.
iirc the song we've only just begun was used in a horror movie? or maybe a thriller? im too lazy to look it up rn, but it's kind of that unintentionally creepy vibe that i love for both edd and his freak ass parents.
when edd hears a carpenters song as an adult it sends him into a cold sweat.

Originally the idea was the more it zoomed in on his face the more pissed off he’d get but i was like “FUH no im not doing that 😂😂😂” so its just a loop sorry :/ and then i forgot to animate the sweat that he has in the original scene but WHATEVER. Whatever
