Hawks didn't blame you either. He knew it was better for you to be unaware of the HPSC, to think about him as the prick who couldn't shoulder the responsibility of a child. Every three to four days; you greeted him in his worst nightmares. It was nothing violent, he just saw you out on the porch with a little kid who has his wings. Chuckling, giggling, being happy. The sunlight does wonders to your hair and face and everything feels good until he sees another man. He comes in, kisses your lips, and says, "I love you, my beautiful wife."

The sight causes Keigo to wake up immediately, he can't see the child or the man clearly. But he hates seeing you belong to someone else. "Stop being a toxic dickhead Keigo." He muttered to himself and gulped down the water bottle kept on the bedside table. Miserable, that's what he was. Miserable.

Months had passed, Keigo wasn't healed though. Whoever said that time heals all your wounds, was sure not hurt enough. Time does nothing when it's your heart that's aching. It does nothing when you remove a piece of it, it doesn't regenerate, it doesn't get okay.

After being months away from the talons of your ex, you looked at the mirror after throwing up. Fate wanted you to suffer more it seemed, because after the recent appointment with the doctor; the results got you crying & panicking until you very well... Threw up your guts out.

With tears streaming down your face, hands shivering, and feeling cold in fear; you caressed your baby bump. "Don't you leave me like your pathetic dad? I've done everything right with you, just like I did everything right with him. I've- please-"

You gave up, it was no use begging your unborn child. You were getting delusional at this point. A defeated sigh escaped you, nothing made sense anymore in the whirlwind of your thoughts. That's when you noticed you've already walked to the fridge and found nothing to eat. At least, having a healthy lifestyle was a good auto-pilot mode for you now.

You wore your slides, not caring to change your appearance & threw a coat on. Twisting your hair in a bun; you stepped outside your house for the grocery store. You were also craving chocolates. Hmm, a fleeting hope of eating something that makes you feel better was all you could hold on to.

It was like a nightmare for you, the sudden growl against your neck while the knife was at your throat. "Easy there missy, give all your money and no one gets hurt. By no one, I mean you." You shivered, eyes widening as your heart raced in panic. You squirmed like a chicken about to get chopped. "I don't have cash on me, I swear I do-"

Before you could complete your sentence, the man fell to the ground, he was stabbed by a red plume. The red plume that immediately shoved against your memories & reminded you of all the places it has been. How it squirmed against your lady bits when Keigo was playing with your body & heart, before he got bored that is.

"You okay?" The worry lines on his forehead didn't suit him at all, yet it felt like time stopped in that moment. You were busy looking at his face, his beautiful, ethereal face. His words didn't get heard, only the way his lips moved was registered in your mind.

"I'm okay, thanks hero." You gained composure and continued walking towards the store. Even though your legs felt cemented to the ground; you kept walking away from him. "Are you, really okay y/n?" Hawks' throat felt dry, the moment he laid eyes on your baby bump. He has checked on you a few times. More times than necessary to see if you were safe, but watching it up close? It was a completely different experience.

"Why the fuck do you fucking care? Got bored of putting your dick inside new holes; is that it?" You seethed in pure rage, looking at him with a disgusted look. God you hated him, hated how he's showing care now after all these months. Pathetic fucking—

"I just asked you a question, you don't have to make it like such a big deal y/n. I-" Keigo was at loss of words, but nothing comforted him like your rage showering at him. It made him feel better, it made him feel better than all the times he's suffered all by himself.

"I don't give a shit about your damn question. I don't give a shit about anything AH-" the conversation took a different turn when you shrieked in pain. "What is it bab- y/n?" Keigo was quick to come to your aid, wings ruffling restlessly as he held you close..

"I said- WHY DO YOU FUCKING CARE? YOU DIDN'T WANT HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE DID YOU?" You yelled out in pain, voice breaking with the panting you did, gritting teeth. "Sshh~ breathe, please, breathe for me." Keigo smiled at you softly, holding your hand gently. His eyes looking at you with a pang of guilt & hopefulness.

"So, the- baby- he's a he?" He didn't pay attention to anything else, letting himself be in the moment. Letting himself feel happy in your presence. The baby- it's a baby boy. Keigo's going to be a father! It meant everything to him.

"I can't- the doctors said-" you tried to speak, but the pain won't let you. Now that you were in his arms, you wanted to curse him out. You wanted to kill him if given the chance that he wakes up from it.

"Ssh~ don't talk to me, breathe. Come on, breathe for me yeah?" He smiled at you, comforting your very core. Only if you knew how much you comforted him. Talk about his speed; you were at the hospital. At this point, even if the HPSC knows, Keigo doesn't care. These few months away from you, he's going to lose his mind if it continues. Fate brought you two together again. Of course? How was he supposed to check on you the exact day a villain attacked you otherwise?

You were immediately taken to a doctor, while Hawks stood back at the waiting room, knuckles cracking in impatience. He doesn't know much about patience, given the ease with which he gets what he wants either way. What he heard next made him yelp inside.

The turmoil inside him that made his heart scream, made him scream his guts out on the inside & yet portraying his usual hero persona? It was by far the hardest thing he's done. "I'm sorry, we couldn't save the baby." That sentence, that damned sentence echoed into the deepest pits of his heart, so many times. It felt he would lose his hearing.

"I see, well... I'll just inform the- uh, the civilian I just saved." Thank god his training! Thank fuck, because he's broken inside. Once again, his heavy footsteps walked towards you, once again— he's going to break your heart.

"Y/n-" he spoke softly, hoping to not see you crumble just at the sound of his voice.

"I know" you looked at him, tears brimming & falling. "I know, it's- it's just- I mean- they did tell me about it." God you looked so hurt, like a kicked puppy. Before you could muster up the strength to find more words, Keigo came in & hugged you tightly. His soft, calming pheromones enfulged your senses as his wings covered you in a duvet. "It's alright, it's absolutely alright. I'm- if you let me, I want to stay with you."

Keigo has so much to tell you, he has so much to be sorry for. So much to explain to you, maybe when he gets the right words. Maybe when he's made you strong enough of a pillar, he'll choose to break into your arms instead. For now, he can sustain the pain for the both of you.
