This is the documentation for my Thank You assignment. As a thank you to my friend Charles, I cut his hair in preparation for his upcoming com event in Seattle. I also helped him tweak his costume for better fit and effect.

We do this for each other as friends. If I have something I need help with I ask him, if he needs help he asks me. We are always saying please and thank you to each other in this way.

The carpet square map started off as a 4″ x 5″ anatomical drawing classified as an “exposed” drawing. This is an “exposed human heart”. I gridded the original and magnified it to the required 18″ x 18″ size.

I chose to render a map of an exposed human heart because that is from where I do my best writing. My best anything, really.

British painter Sargy Mann was diagnosed with cataracts at 36, and went on to lose his sight completely. But in his mind's eye his vision did not fade. Mann found new ways to keep working and today his paintings, collected by Daniel Day-Lewis among others, are more acclaimed than ever

I like the idea of expressing your experience even when your experience change so dramatically. Also, finding a way to express your experiences within the constraints life deals you.
