Fastnet Lighthouse

A lighthouse on the southern most part of Ireland, and the tallest. It is the second light to be built on Fastnet Rock, due to its weakness, both in its lantern and its structure. The bottom levels of the old tower are still visible near the second.

Point Pinos Light

Point Pinos light is the oldest standing lighthouse in California, being built in 1855. It is well known for one of its keepers, Emily Fish, being called the “socialite keeper”, as she would often hold guests at the light.

Biloxi Lighthouse

Biloxi Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in Mississippi, standing at 61 feet, and sits near the Mississippi Sound. It had weathered many hurricanes as well as being maintained by the most women keepers than any other lighthouse in the US.

Roter Sand Lighthouse

This famous German Lighthouse is located on the North Sea and was the first building to be built on the sea floor. Its construction completed in 1885 and was deactivated in 1986, but still serves as a day beacon.

Mizunokojima Lighthouse

This light is located in Japan’s Bungo Chanel, and due to it’s isolated nature it had a long four year process of being built. Since it was finished in 1904, it has been hit by several typhoons, some even reaching its top floors and roof. Despite this Mizunokojima remains active and was automated in 1986.
