hi everyone! my name is amity / ames and this is my intro for therian tumblr YAY!

blog purpose: tumblr is more close-knit and has a more mature audience than where i usually post so i wanted to come here! a lot of my posts will probably just be reblogging content related to my theriotype, and rb’ing stuff for my account ambiance / to archive, with occasional oc posts.

other: idk if i count as a therian per se but it’s the closest definition i can get. petre / kemonomimi could fit me more but what i feel mostly centers from having always related to certain animals more than humans, and feeling othered by humans because of ASD. in ways, my “therianism” connects more to feeling unhuman and different than it does to feeling animalistic. it’s a way to channel my “odd” behaviors like stimming, social anxiety, and otherness from the rest of the world (hence why you’ll see me in hunter gear despite being deerlike!) it’s also trauma-based in many ways but we’re not getting into that LOL.

but in reality, the foundation of my bullying stemmed from insecurity. the other kids knew that i wasn’t quite right, that i was different, and that i was afraid of myself, too. i wasn’t taught to defend myself, and didn’t have adults in my life that i felt safe talking to; this lead to me being a direct target naturally.

being bullied didn’t make me grow out of my weird behaviors. masking them didn’t stop the bullying either. snatching gear from your therian little sibling won’t make it stop either– they’re already weird. other people already know that.

the only thing that did stop it was confidence. so tell the kid that people fucking suck sometimes, and maybe publicly wearing gear at school isn’t the best idea, but be involved with them.

let them know there is someone there that is willing to support & fight them regardless of what others think. let them know there is someone there that loves who they are. let them rant to you about things you think are silly or weird, take them to a park or a forest, buy them a therian pin or whatever. let them know they are loved & that you care.
