John Dodge owned a small fulling mill that is at present a small park in Beverly. The Woodbury, Trask, Batchelder, Porter and Leach families are well known early Beverly names.

William and Richard Dodge were involved in the Salem Church. First Church is now Unitarian.

Chestnut Street was a Federalist hotspot, while The Common was a Republican zone. George, Israel, Isaac and Pickering Dodge were on the Federalist side. However, the agricultural Dodge's were more Jeffersonian. Timothy Pickering had a country house (( preserved in its original condition )) in Wenham, next door to the Dodge farms. He was a leading Federalist (( Secretary of State )). In Salem he was in the majority. In Wenham he was in the minority.
