“you know –” sue started with a hum, stepping behind her husband from where he was working on one thing or another, and placing her hands on his shoulders. somewhere in the background franklin and valeria were bickering over who would get which bed of the dome-like structure ‘tent’ they’d been given. “a less understanding wife might have some complaints about this going from an exploration mission to being stuck here, and maybe some about the sand and the cold.” her fingers tapped on his shoulder softly, trying to ensure she had at least some fraction of his attention. her tone was light though, gentle teasing. things going awry in space wasn’t really a new circumstance and they’d face worse. “it’s a good thing you don’t have one of those, right? but i do kind of wish i’d packed more.”
it was entirely like sue to be able to pull reed out of the machinisms of his own mind. she was, after all, a reed richards expert and knew how to handle him when others couldn't - or simply wouldn't. if he were a man of great emotion and outward expressions, he would have detailed to her how grateful he truly was, and yet somehow he knew that she already knew. so despite his utter distraction and attention being held upon his newest experimental device; the voice of his wife still got through to him and made him smile. "you had plenty of time to pack, you just chose to focus on the children's things more." he muttered as he stuck his tongue out just a bit and concentrated hard onto two tiny pieces that he needed to fit together just right. "but, if it makes you happier - i can reconfigure stark's... unique job of his 'tent' for us and redesign it into something that we both can agree on and find to be more suitable." he finished his piece and turned to look at sue, his brows raising as he offered a smile that he only reserved for her. "as much as i know you didn't want to, i'm glad you came with me... and the children too."
