“Oh, it does the job just fine for a medical student.” Dan laughs, opening the door slowly, as to not alert Herbert to their presence. He can’t hear any shuffling from below, but that doesn’t mean his roommate isn’t lying in wait, so the man errs on the side of caution and quietly shows West to the phone.
Pressing a lithe finger to his lips, Dan’s gaze slides to the basement door, but there’s no light seeping from beneath the frame, so he breathes a sigh of relief. “My roommate can be a real nut when it comes to other people in the house sometimes, but you can use the phone as you like. The address is -” He scribbles something akin to 666 Darkmore Lane on a nearby napkin, “if you need it.”
Herbert just gives Daniel a small smile in return. Of course, he shouldn’t be so rude when speaking to others. He does still need to keep a nice presence, this man has been so nice to him so far.
West arches a brow when Dan motions him to be quiet. He peers over to see the basement as well, just to see what the other was looking for. “Oh, I see, can’t you kick him out or something?” Herbert asks in a soft voice before taking the napkin, “W-Where’s the phone?”
“Ha, I wish it was as easy as just ordering him out.” Dan gives a small, wistful shake of his head. He’s tried on several occasions to force Herbert out, only to be greeted with fierce opposition and puppy eyes. And Daniel Cain was never one for arguments, so Herbert has to hold out just long enough until Dan begins to deflate and sniffle - confrontation is his biggest weakness.
When West speaks again, his smile becomes slightly forced, casting questioning eyes on the small male in front of him. Eyes then sliding to the phone that sat in front of the pair, he knits his eyebrows before pointing to the small hunk of plastic. “There?”
