I'm currently not in a place where I can have an altar or do much for the gods (I can even pray much because my family doesn't know and I don't want to tell them yet)
But I feel bad that all I really do is wear jewelry for them and I forget to so often
Is there anything you know of I could do for the gods? That would be easy enough to not get caught doing?
Firstly, I want to write that it's okay to not have an altar. You don't have to have it. And it's okay to forget. After ten years of worship, I forget too. It's human nature, and the Gods know that.
Eat more fruit or veggies associated with your Deity. (Hera - Apple, Dionysus - Grapes, Athena - Olives, etc)
I think that can be pretty easy to explain. You just like it more, or your taste changed, and boom, you like it. Things like olives are also easy to add to a salad without raising suspicion. Desserts with a specific flavouring can be easy to find and make.
Wear graphic t-shirts with your Deity's animal symbol. (Athena - Owls, Hestia - Cow, Hades - Dog, etc)
It doesn't need to be your favourite animal out of nowhere. Just a t-shirt that you like, and it just so happened to have a pretty animal on it.
The same with plants and other symbols (Selene - Moon, Hera - Peacock, Aphrodite - Roses, etc)
It's a pretty shirt OR ANYTHING REALLY. I used to have a cookie-shaped coaster for Lady Hestia. And it just was, nothing groundbreaking, just a way to connect to her every day. A simple thing that you use every day, like a mug or a plate with a pretty design.
Go digital.
Pinterest boards, movies, YouTube videos, taking pictures and videos. I know a lot of people enjoy dress-up games to make their Deities.
Taking pictures of things that remind you of your Deity throughout the day and putting them in a designated folder. Maybe collaging too.
Meditation.
It's not only sitting cross-legged on a pillow. Of course, if you want to do that, sure. But you can also go for a walk and meditate on your Deity. Or lie down in your bed, say you're going to relax or take a nap, and meditate. Focus on your Deity. Let your mind run free.
Media that reminds you of your Deity.
That means games that focus on a domain of your Deity (Athena - Strategy games, Hestia - cosy TV Shows, Poseidon - Ocean Documentaries).
HOBBIES AND CRAFTS
My favourite and the most versatile in my opinion. I don't think anyone would question hobbies. Embroidery, you can make a dolphin for Amphitrite or a flower for Persephone. Something simple enough to go unnoticed but meaningful for you.
Hang your hats/caps on a wall, near an exit. [mentioned that a few times in my Artemis posts already, but try adding a little "A" on the inside of your hat]
Keep memorabilia from your hikes and parks.
Make a banner for your favourite hiking destination.
Print out pictures of you hiking, the beautiful scenery, and make a wall gallery of them.
Make a wreath of items you found on your forest walk. [pines, fallen branches and dried flowers]
Design your own calendar, with your favourite scenery from your hikes and outdoor adventures. [or imagery of animals dedicated to Artemis]
Hang a map of your favourite park or dream destination [add little notes, doodles and photos]
30 days of Artemis worship
How to start worshipping Hestia [Iris version] [Hestia version]
Walk barefoot on grass.
Start a nature journal that you always take on walks and hikes.
Start birdwatching.
Embroider a fern around a sweater collar.
Wear loose, comfortable clothes.
Take a spontaneous trip to somewhere new.
Go for a walk, take pictures of every animal you see, and, back at home, research them and make a page in your journal.
Volunteer in a Women's Shelter or donate to one.
Go for a hike.
Make nut bars for your next hike.
Take a new, longer route on your usual walk.
Use public transportation.
Play a sport you never did.
Go camping under the stars.
Reconnect with something you loved doing as a child.
Spend the entire day by a lake.
Try a new outdoor activity.
Start waking up early.
Go for a run.
Wander in the woods, take notes and make drawings.
Try geocaching.
Read a book about forestry.
Have a picnic after a destination hike.
Look for an outdoor club.
Volunteer at a National Park.
Go hunting in a thrift store.
Visit a museum focused on or with an exhibition on animals.
Sit in silence in nature.
Learn about Eco-Activism.
Host an outdoor cookout.
Selene is Artemis is Hekate
I’m usually a hard polytheist when it comes to this but I am also feeling this hard rn
Moon deities but like. For different phases of the moon
Y’know?
Rambling thoughts today…

YOU ARE NOT AN ORACLE.
I feel like this shouldn't be a thing that needs to be addressed, but I've seen it enough in online spaces (not just on tumblr) to where I'm gonna say something about it anyways. Reviving ancient priesthoods is a completely valid and achievable task, one which is already being done by various communities as we speak.
Reviving oracles on the other hand is near impossible.
Why?
Oracles in the Ancient Greek world were not just random figures who popped up out of nowhere and claimed the Gods were speaking through them. They were participants in traditions that stretched back centuries, and gained respect among the Greek city-states as a result. They were not just diviners, they literally spoke with the voice of the Theoi. Their words were those of the Gods. And because their roles were so heavily dependant on the civic and social structures of Ancient Greek culture, it's no wonder that, as the culture began to shift into the Roman era and then even more as Christianity began to spread and become the dominant religion in that part of the world, the ancient institutions that supported these oracles began to crumble under pressure. That is why, by the time it was finally shut down, the Sanctuary of Apollon at Delphi was a shell of its former self. Gone were its days of receiving donations from kings, politicians and nobles. Gone were its throngs of pilgrims who sought out the Pythia to hear the words of radiant Apollon, in his prophetic house.
The ancient oracles died out, but that does not mean the Gods are silent. They still speak, and can be heard in many ways. Another thing to remember is that, while many oracles were human beings, many were also not. There were oracular springs, and there was the Sanctuary of Dodona, where mighty Zeus was heard in the creaking and rustling of a sacred oak tree.
So, for anyone who believes the Gods speak through them and calls themselves an oracle-- I'm truly sorry, but you are not an oracle. You cannot claim to be one. You are not a participant in the ancient oracular traditions. Educate yourself on what the roles of oracles actually were in the Ancient Greek world.
”lord hermes & lord apollon are such twinks!” what if i punch you in the jaw right now
"My favourite pagan tradition is converting to Christianity!!1!1"
Honey, your ancestors were brutalised to get them there. It's not a flex.
Hi <3 Quite a sad thing happened. My graphic tablet is dead. I had it for so many years, I started to think it was indestructible.
If you're feeling genourous, I set a goal on my Ko-fi for a new one. Thank you so much <3

The protective layer was almost scraped off, but it was working till today. I checked with a tech shop near me and literally everything would need to be replace in it. But it's so old, it's not worth it, and with the price of the repairs I could get a new one, with a screen and all the "fun" stuff.
It's such a stressful week for me, I'm kind of glad that happend, so I had an excuse to cry and cry with no end <3.
