Last weekend saw the end of the D&D 5e campaign we started 3 years and 10 months ago, with our Characters saving the city of Waterdeep from an undead army and a Necromancer trying to become a god. 180 logged sessions, 3 in-game years, running all the way from Levels 1 to 20 (and just beyond). After a test game, this was the first full RPG campaign I set up after a long time away from the hobby, running online. We start new campaigns next year; the road goes ever on.
Here’s my two PCs, at the end of the campaign:
Ennil Silverson, Half-Elf Paladin of Helm.
Left as a foundling on the steps of House Invincible, the temple of Helm in Silverymoon; with his white hair and silver eyes, he was given the surname “Silverson” by the High Watcher. Raised by the temple, he became a priest and paladin of Helm, serving at Helm’s Hall in Waterdeep, and joining the Order of the Gauntlet with his faithful celestial warhorse/pegasus Champion. Among the many exploits of he and his adventuring comrades, he stopped a frost giant jarl from conquering the north with an army of giants, and saved Waterdeep from a plague of undead led by a necromancer with ambitions of godhood. Forged his own enchanted helmet and armour, using tools blessed by a Celestial, and with metals he acquired from the outer planes. Eventually left Waterdeep to become the Watch Commander of the Hawk’s Nest fortress, near Silverymoon.
Hunter Malachai, Tielfing Warlock/Rogue.
Born a tielfing to two human parents in Dock Ward, Waterdeep, growing up he was known as The Devil of Three Daggers Alley. Temporarily possessed as a child by Mephistopheles, he was left with a fragment of the Archfiend inside him; though drawing on it for magical power, he always strived to do good, aided by his celestial hawk familiar Cazador. Searching for a way to rid himself of the fiendish fragment, he discovered he was the spitting image of a devil who ran a cult of Mephistopheles worshippers (of which his grandfather was a member), and who regarded him as a “chosen one”; violently rejecting this magical destiny, he ran his infernal ancestor through with a sword. With the aid of his friends and an archfey, he expelled the fragment of Mephistopheles, and pledged himself to serve Herne the Hunter, becoming The Hawk of Herne. As one of the top agents in the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors, he stalks the streets of Waterdeep, hunting down magical criminals with his fey falcon Shikari.
