playing that flower for iris tour with gladio made me realize that if the four of them were to be in a relationship, noct would have been painfully oblivious to it for the longest time before that

There’s this feeling I sometimes get watching humans do the cool things that humans have been doing for thousands of years. It makes my chest expand and my heart thud and I love it. I love this.
My class pretended to play dead.
Just as the Mayans predicted, the apocalypse came with the signal of a cough.
these middle schoolers read better than my high school honors english class
I REALLY HAVE TO REBLOG THIS IM SORRY THE FUCKING TEACHER
“Stop being dead right now”
That’s the reaction of an adult who delights in what you just did, but is in the position of Enforcing The Rules, so they have to tell you to stop anyway
Every time I see that glee face he gets its like “fine I guess I’ll reblog”
lmao an absolute delight
and THIS is why teaching middle school is the best
This ends with an energy I'm not sure how to describe
I'M LOVING THIS ENERGY

i miss you
it’s ninety-nine degrees outside, four fuck-thousand percent humidity, and my husband was like, “i’m gonna go for a bike ride.” and i was like “why. no. why. don’t put us on the news like that. local fool collapses on unnecessary journey. don’t do it.” so he says he doesn’t want to “hide in the house” because the sun is shining. bruh. honeybruh. “the sun is shining” does not cover it. its hot outside. its motherfucking hot as fuck outside. our outdoor plants have been crying into their hands all week. whole cars are melting into the sewer. our fucking patio umbrella developed sentience to ask me for lemonade this morning
@robotmango, you need to work for the weather forecast - this was both hilarious and so vivid it made me stand up and get some iced tea.
this is a great idea, thank you. here goes. my audition tape for the weather channel. dearly beloved. we are gathered here today to have a fucking funeral for the outdoors. it had a good run, with all its creeks and clouds and shit. pretty great. now it’s ten-thirty at night but still ninety-two asshole-sweating degrees and humid as fuck. everything is hot and slimy, like being a “borrower” that got trapped inside a bottle of shampoo and then accidentally microwaved. you can see on my doppler radar that nothing is moving around out there because everything is probably dead. the only alive thing is the mosquito currently trying to drill a hole in my leg. no surprise that all the shitbag mosquitos are fine, since the thermostat of hell is always at the devil’s preferred temperature. this forecast has gotten away from me a little, but in conclusion fuck the sun
I think I’ve reblogged this before, but “the thermostat of hell is always at the devil’s preferred temperature” is fucking poetry
ninety nine???? thats IT????????? buddy here in the 7th circle of h*ck, California, we get up to at LEAST 110 degrees every single gosh darned summer. the bugs seek revenge. the sun wreaks havoc on the mere mortals it surveys. every plant has turned brown in its thirst for water. the very air itself has been sucked dry of every drip of moisture it ever had.
ninety nine degrees. you weak fool.
well since you asked so politely, let’s talk about something very important vis a vis weather-hotness that you clearly ain’t ever heard of, called
humidity
oh alas, you say. oh papa, whatever shall i do, it is ever so hotte and drye in california. the very air hath been sucked of all its moisturey droplets and whatnot.* one hundredy and tennith desiccated degrees!
*(yo, drought is serious. i am pretty obviously not making fun of that.)
alright. let’s check it out. here’s a random california city, right about now:
thirty-two percent. and here’s a random mid-atlantic city located somewhere in the wet fleshy crease behind a demon’s knee*:
*(confession: i do not live in dc, but several years ago i spent three weeks steaming like a tinned ham in arlington in august. none of the pants i took with me could ever keep a crease again.)
huh! funny thing! “see, dc’s actually seven degrees COOLER,” you say, because you’ve obviously never gone outside and taken a deep lungful of wet sock trash air in your life. and now for added bliss, here’s what early wednesday morning’s gonna be like for these poor clowns:
that’s right! eighty-two percent humidity! the point at which showers no longer matter, because you’re all caught in God’s grease trap! just stressed human eels miserably slip slidin’ their way through a damp melty bathwater-flavored hellscape that feels like it’s actively sous viding their top layer of skin! a hundred thousand people packed into public transit breathing air that feels like deepthroating swamp thing! and you wanna talk to me about fuckin california!
[cue science voice]: human bodies cool through evaporation, a process by which the body sweats and sweet invisible angels towel us off, whisking away our unwanted moisture into the air and literally chilling us out. (it’s also why air conditioned air feels so fucking deliciously refreshing: it’s not just being cooled, it’s being conditioned, aka, dehumidified. it’s cool dry air.) but. if the air is already made out of fucking chowder and can’t absorb shit then guess what the fuck our bodies can’t do.
so is this weak fool gonna remain indoors and hydrated through this only medium-hot but fuckoff-humid season? you bet your dried out ass.
This is poetry.
I fucking laughed till I cried so hard I had to take my glasses off. Jesus Christ that’s one of the funniest things I’ve seen all week.
why did we ever stop writing Like That, like now it’s all “he looked at her with longing” like!!! what happened to “he gazed at her, pain in his eyes, heart twisting with every beat, and felt that if she did not look back he might never truly know happiness again” WHY DO WE WRITE IN NORMAL LENGTH SENTENCES NOW!!! BRING BACK PARAGRAPH LONG SENTENCES! BRING BACK THE UNINTELLIGIBLE!!! MAKE OSCAR WILDE PROUD BITCH!!!!!
anyway make ur writing so complicated and lavish that i have to spend a week working out what one sentence means please xoxo
Me , overcomplicating my life while writing: For Oscar Wilde
This is called “purple prose” and modern editors (some, not all) are on a witch hunt to remove all ‘unnecessary words’ which means the entirety of purple prose. It is extremely hard to get purple prose published as it is considered pretentious, try hard, and unnecessary behaviour by many professionals. BRING PURPLE PROSE BACK TO LIFE

every…time….
hey do you know any formal nb or gender inclusive equivalents to sir/ma’am? like I get the whole argument of just don’t mention gender at all but I was trying to address a professor who uses they/them and didn’t know their name and got stuck...
A professor can be addressed as “professor” or another title, though you might feel like Harry Potter. Some people like “mix” but I don’t know anyone who actively uses it.
Consider also: “what’s up, Doc?” in a Bugs Bunny voice, or “hello, guvna!” in your worst English accent.
I also like the convention of using “Friend” as an honorific because it makes you sound like either Starfire or R. Daneel Olivaw.
I use lovelies and friends because everyone is lovely and everyone is a friend

incorporating worldbuilding into writing
infodumps are boring and they suck. the key to worldbuilding is subtlety - throw in an offhand comment here, another mention there. your readers will gradually make a clearer picture of your world.
do:
casually mention something a few times, adding more and more description each time
use short, basic descriptions of concepts and use the situations your character is in to flesh them out more
use the character’s emotions toward this thing to help describe it
apply the subtlety rule to things such as culture, language, races, genders, or other groups of diversity
use similies/metaphors
don’t
casually mention basic settings. these should be established from the beginning - your reader should not find out it’s raining and cloudy halfway through the chapter. broader things, like a whole country, can use the basic description trick (ie. a school may be described in three words, but the classroom is given a few paragraphs)
use synonyms excessively! nothing is more annoying than hearing something being described the same way five thousand times with increasingly more weird adjectives that all mean the same thing
casually describe people. they are important and you should know the the things that stand out about them immediately. other things, such as the smell of their hair or the slope of their nose should be saved for later - they aren’t the things you notice first. no one cares about your eye color in the first ten seconds of meeting you unless you have unusually light eyes or heterochromia
of course, there are a bunch of other exceptions to this rule - this is just an idea to get you started. just keep this concept in mind while writing and use it when you think it’s appropriate.
