− ABOUT.
was born in cartersville, georgia to two parents who have always seemed to work better separate than together and it came as a shock to absolutely no one (not even dixie) when her parents announced they'd be getting a divorce when she was 9 years old.
the divorce was messy, at first, but eventually it became a blessing in disguse. once the two were able to put all feelings to the side, it was clear that they were better off as not only co-parents but friends. family activities were never awkward, holidays never apart and they were two people who'd do anything for each other and their daughter.
dixie spent the school months in georgia with her mother while summers were spent in rift valley with her father, but she never really felt like she was spending her childhood split between two places. it was impossible when she knew her mother was only a phone call away and, more often than not, she'd take a trip over and spend up to a week enjoying the vacation with her daughter and ex-husband. essentially, it was never mom versus dad, they've always been a family and no divorce could change that.
both of her parents were financially comfortable in their own ways, meaning dixie grew up in two different homes that always provided more than enough for her and the trips back and forth were never a hassle.
for nearly eight years, rift valley was her summer home until she stopped showing up once summer− chalking it up to choosing to stay in georgia, enjoying it with her friends there rather than packing up and leaving until summer ended.
it's been nearly six years since she's last stepped foot in rift valley (her father having been the one to fly to georgia to see her), but she's back after making the choice to move in with her father. it wasn't entirely planned: her mother had recently remarried and decided she wanted to move out of their small town and to somewhere completely new. which dixie was absolutely not ready for.
here's the thing about dixie: yes, she's 26 years old and could've definitely made the choice to stay in georgia on her own but she's been sheltered her whole life. never had to work for anything because her parents gave her anything she could've ever wanted. they've always been there for her and in turn, she's never really ever been alone. never had to do things on her own.
− HEADCANONS.
she's extremly sweet natured and warm with nearly everyone that she engages with.
growing up as sheltered and protected as she has, dixie has become a little bit naive and overly trusting. always someone who tends to see the good in people first (even if they try and show her why she shouldn't).
has a bad habit and tends to call people "baby" a lot, but she means no harm by it. if you correct her, she'll make a conscious effort to not do it because she doesn't want to make anyone upset or uncomfortable.
has the tendency to say exactly what she's thinking and could definitely benefit from having a filter every now and then.
her father is a lawyer and known for representing criminals, but behind the scenes, it's even deeper than that—willing to do anything for the right price.
her father does a lot of business outside of the state / country, so more often than not, she's basically got the house to herself and you can tell by the way she's constantly inviting people over with hopes to drown out the silence and loneliness that comes along with it. even when he is home, the house is big enough that the two wouldn't even have to cross paths if they didn't want to (which is very rare).
