there's a grove in southern Sri Lanka called Ashok Vatika. legend says this is where Sita was held during her exile — and standing there, it genuinely feels different from any other "tourist stop."
no crowds. no noise. just trees, birdsong, and a kind of stillness that makes you understand why this story has survived thousands of years.
a few minutes away is Sita Amman Temple, right beside a stream. pilgrims sit here for way longer than they plan to. something about the water + the quiet + knowing what this place represents.
