Disnephemera

What’s Disnephemera? Simply put: Disney ephemera. For those who don't know, ephemera is used to describe items that were intended for one-time use, or are often discarded, but were collected & preserved (often paper items!). Think things like tickets, maps, advertising papers, etc.

This is a searchable archive.

Well, hopefully soon it will be. It's currently 'under construction'. The eventual goal is to scan & upload everything I have, using keyword tags on each item so if you're researching something specific, you can easily find it! It'll take quite some time for me to work on all of this so please bear with me as I work on this page & setting everything up!​​ In the meantime, you're welcome to start your search here.

I have amassed quite a collection of paper items through auctions, estate sales, and other places that I want to digitize & preserve for all to enjoy! I've had these booklets for quite a while, and while they each only have one ticket left, they're still cool!

Here's the child admission:

Based on the attractions, I'd say that these are from sometime when Country Bear Jamboree opened in March 1972 and when Flight to the Moon closed in January 1975. I always thought the ticket books and lettering system were pre-1970s but I guess not!

Take note of these prices by the way! $7.25 for a child and $10.65 for an adult... one can only dream of that now lol.

I thrifted this photo in a whole auction lot of mismatched Disney parks photos, and this was in there! No caption, other matching photos or anything-- just a mystery! The reason I like this photo though is the text on the set behind Goofy is actually in German. It roughly translates to "Hello, my friends from the forest. I didn't want to scare you, ___ you don't know what I have experienced."

There's also text in the top left corner which I can barely tell what it says but it is definitely not German (maybe italian?).

It does have a date in the lower right which I actually missed at first glance: August 23, 1999.

I got a big pile of inserts from DVDs from someone, and while I won't be scanning them all in, I thought some may be interesting to preserve and share! This is a promo paper for Disney Blu-ray, specifically hyping up the 3D feature (has anyone ever used that? is it really ever 3D outside of a professional theater?)

I did check the listed url for more info, and it doesn't exist anymore BUT the wayback machine has snapshots back to 2010, and can you believe the 2010 site has promo for this exact blu-ray right at the top! Toy Story at Burger King - 1995

In honor of the release of Toy Story 5 this week, I thought I would share the cool Burger King items I was able to get at an estate & scan in!

In 1995, Burger King released four puppets called the Toy Story Pals as part of the promotion for the original movie release! They were $1.99 each as an add-on to a value meal (which I know because I watched the commercial, click here to see!)

Here's the bag from a meal! (I believe this to be the kid's-size meal bag as it was small enough to fit on the scanner, unlike another Disney Burger King bag I happen to have lol.)

Not sure if every bag had Buzz Lightyear or there were different bags available, but this is the one I have!

Here's the back, featuring all four toys:

They're looking a little... uncanny in print lol.

With the bag, there was a little folded paper that originally came sealed with the toy, specifically for Buzz!

This is really cool specifically because I actually thrifted the Buzz toy over a year ago, without his original bag or paper!

and the item everyone is going to be grossed out by: the french fry holder!

(now I promise I would not have taken this if it showed any remnants of grease or food because I am sane hahaha. I think someone just asked for an empty one because it was flat as can be and clean when I found it. Now we all get to enjoy the cool graphics!)

Interestingly, this french fry container is different than the one in the ad I linked above, but I think it shows a regular size meal, while this seems like the kid's meal fry portion (you can see a little blur of orange at 0:05 next to the burger that I suspect is it).

Here's a cool pamphlet based on World of Motion! A lot of it is advertising for General Motors but there's some really neat tidbits in here! Let's have a look:

Here's an intro from the previous Chairman of GM:

"The same quest that sent us sputtering down a country lane at the turn of the century is now, under the influence of modern technology, giving us the imagination and freedom to move into a new era of transportation."

That is such a beautifully written but apt description about the ride's concept!

Immediately we get car ads, lol. Here's Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles!

It's funny to look at these now knowing this was what was affiliated with the attraction looking to the future of motion as these are so dated to me lol.

Interesting to read the concept behind the ride to justify its alignment with Disney!

Now this is certainly unlike any cars on the modern market: the Lean Machine

The giant wings seem very cumbersome to handle as a consumer but a neat concept I suppose
