I’d fucking love it if white people didn’t use this post to pat themselves on the back. I guarantee that no amount of “don’t people know this already?” or “isn’t this obvious?” will actually make you a good ally to black people.

The only things that will make you a good ally to us is listening to us, boosting our voices, defending us when we need it, calling out your fellow whites when they display overt and/or covert racist behavior, and checking yourself consistently.

There’s nothing wrong with asking for sources. What you did was insinuate that they didn’t exist or that, if they did, they wouldn’t actually be relevant or correct. In relation to a topic that has been being studied for decades.

You could have just said “Can I have a link directly to the twitter thread” or “What keywords should I use to find this information”. You could have browsed the notes. You could have sucked it up and typed less words than you used in your first response into DuckDuckGo.
