...did...the prophesy compilation I looked at before just...exclude the roots prophesy :?
...the numbering of the heroes is weird, isn't it?
Thanks tornado for making my dad take the tv right before a sound based thing
i've now seen multiple interviews where Ryan Gosling is asked who/what he would take with him if he went to space and he answers "i wouldn't go to space. i like earth." which is a very reasonable opinion but also a hilariously appropriate one for the actor playing Ryland "went to space very much against his will" Grace

Gerson is so tough man
...the tumblr theme editor is really permissive.
it's more sandboxxed than MediaWiki, which makes sense bc anyone can make a tumblr theme viewable to everyone, but you can literally do anything. Even call external APIs. I'm astonished by this
...the tumblr theme editor is really permissive.
Does anyone have a link to that video where someone was faking absolutely insane phone calls in public to film random strangers' reactions

your world is dying. your husband presumably dies in space so now you're a widow and your world is still dying. then 50-ish years later your husband everyone assumed was dead pulls up in a random spaceship full of a highly volatile atmosphere with the solution to your impending apocalypse and none of the original crew from his mission and instead with a wet, blobby alien that he pack bonded with and almost died for and is now emotionally codependent on that now wont stop complaining about the temperature of the water in its enclosure. your name is adrian and you dont know how you got here
Some basic fun facts about planes
Plane speed is not measured in kmph, but in knots
The rate of travel over the surface of the earth is actually completely irrelevant for a plane. Instead, we measure its 'airspeed,' the speed of the plane vs the oncoming air
For this reason, planes can sometimes reach extremely high apparent speeds over a certain distance
Also for this reason, small planes that fly at low speed can, in some conditions, sit completely still while flying. It's a really good bit
Planes can go really high. Many commercial planes can cruise at around 40,000 feet
While 40,000 feet is very high, the 'edge of space' (as defined for legal reasons) is around 330,000 feet
For jets, which use exhaust from turbine engines to fly, the efficiency gain from flying at high altitude where the air is thin is so great that even on short flights it's most efficient to climb as high as practical before descending
For turboprops, which use turbine powered propellors for power, more air density increases efficiency. That's why they're usually smaller and used for shorter flights
An aerodynamic stall is when a plane is no longer able to maintain lift and will fall out of the sky. For most purposes pilots use speed to approximate when it would happen, but really, it's when the angle of attack (the angle of the wings into the air) becomes too high and air separates from the tops of the wings
Oh yeah. Planes maybe stay in the air because of the air clingling to the top surface of the wing and creating negative pressure. Or maybe because the air flowing off the back of the wing pushes downwards and creates an equal and opposite reaction. Nobody can seem to agree. But it's probably fine!
Apparently a lot of people get dialogue punctuation wrong despite having an otherwise solid grasp of grammar, possibly because they’re used to writing essays rather than prose. I don’t wanna be the asshole who complains about writing errors and then doesn’t offer to help, so here are the basics summarized as simply as I could manage on my phone (“dialogue tag” just refers to phrases like “he said,” “she whispered,” “they asked”):
“For most dialogue, use a comma after the sentence and don’t capitalize the next word after the quotation mark,” she said.
“But what if you’re using a question mark rather than a period?” they asked.
“When using a dialogue tag, you never capitalize the word after the quotation mark unless it’s a proper noun!” she snapped.
“When breaking up a single sentence with a dialogue tag,” she said, “use commas.”
“This is a single sentence,” she said. “Now, this is a second stand-alone sentence, so there’s no comma after ‘she said.’”
“There’s no dialogue tag after this sentence, so end it with a period rather than a comma.” She frowned, suddenly concerned that the entire post was as unasked for as it was sanctimonious.
And!
“If you’re breaking dialogue up with an action tag”—she waves her hands back and forth—”the dashes go outside the quotation marks.”
Reblog to save a writer’s life.
Thank you
Oh my god thank you. No wonder grammarly keeps complaining about my punctuation when I boot my writing up into word counter
in general I find that "why did someone behave this way" is almost always answered by "behaving otherwise was too difficult and frightening for them at the time," and then you have to dig into why that is. people behave in ways that feel 1. easy for them (do not require much thought or effort) 2. accessible to them (patterns that have worked many times before) and 3. safe for them (apparently predictable outcome)
this is true even for behavior that is absolutely horrific and totally unacceptable. which can be a tough thing to accept, I think.

Remember when one of Mark's friends who I blocked contacted me out of nowhere to tell me what a crazy sexually aggressive freak I was for, and I cannot emphasize enough how untrue this is, believing I was in a ragebait kink relationship
