So, plantners breaking the binary of lightner and darkner has me realizing the boundary between the two might be even blurrier than we could've ever imagined. Especially since we potentially have "animalners" too in the form of those insects, which would have to either specifically make Kris's dark world appearance technically a darkner or make a definitive boundary between lightner and darkner impossible.

Given that insects are most likely conscious, the only compelling definition of a lightner at this point might be an entity which has a soul while in the light world. We don't actually know if animals have souls in-universe. I know that in real life, the idea that they don't is considered theologically outdated (thanks to the research of, of all people, Charles Darwin). I suppose for mechanical reasons, animals might have their own type of soul which is more similar to a monster soul than to a human soul, but we just don't have enough information to know for sure.

There could be other entities that actually break the binary too, introduced as early as chapter 2. While not living, a computer program arguably has more agency than a plant. In the past I've also speculated on how an AI chatbot would interact with the dark world and concluded that it would probably remember being conscious within its context window and react to the memory when returned to the light world, which is something very un-darkner-like. Working backwards into simpler programs, dark world information might be recorded in computer memory or saved in system logs, though I would not expect a typical consumer computer to be able to notice anything weird on its own.

Overall I think we might need more information.

I'm not on board with Kriselle as The knight but I'm on board with the idea of Noelle becoming A knight using the Soul under the assumption that Dess has Kris's original soul and the WR parallels what happened to Dess. More compelling than one knight who travels back in time

the main issue with time-traveling kriselle knight other than the one everyone has stated about it taking away player agency is that the weird route is about breaking the game. the roaring knight just bypasses mechanics, they don't actively break it. A time-traveling kriselle knight (or, more likely, just Noelle with the Soul, leaving Kris behind) would need to actively break the game to be able to follow the setup. Which rules out a stable time loop, as that would be the opposite of breaking the game. It would have to result in a new story entirely.

I don't get why Every Single Time someone makes their own secret boss theme, they include Jevil's motif at the end. No other tracks with the freedom motif use Jevil's motif. Not even Inappropriate Recycling, a track where the entire joke was that it was incorrectly using the freedom motif, uses Jevil's motif.
