Art takeaway: line to divide space and create shapes
I read that Richard Armitage stated Thorin was protective of Kili. This was what popped into my mind: Thorin holding a newborn baby Kili as if his arms will keep him safe. Thus a bond had formed.

Draped in robes decorated with a combination of motifs from ancient illuminated Arab manuscripts, Japanese calligraphy and Italian Renaissance painting, the women of Iraqi artist Hayv Kahraman’s work seem to emerge from the surface of the linen. It is through these women that Kahraman grapples with her identity as Iraqi, living in the west, having observed the upheaval of her home country from abroad. Having experienced the liberties afforded to women in western societies, Kahraman yearns optimistically with each of her brushstrokes, for the empowerment and liberation of the women of the Middle East.

Alejandro Cartagena captured Mexican workers on their way to job sites in Car Poolers. This is such an amazing and simple photo series.

Crystal Wagner’s New 4 storey Work ‘‘ Fall ‘‘ at The University of Tennessee
"Fall" 60ft, four stories, and through glass. My current installation is a hybrid between the synthetic man made materials that surround us and the natural landscapes that populate the earth. Plastic falls inside, like water. "Fall" birthday party table cloth, chicken wire, screen print 60ft x 15ft x 10ft *Currently on display for the Southern Graphics Council International Conference at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. 2015
I work entirely site-specifically, with the exception of the colour scheme which is often determined by how I respond to pictures I get of the space, I have no plans for how the installations will grow. In the most honest sense, I am using space as my substrate, the architecture and environment as my canvas. With “Fall” the vertical space in the A & A building was overwhelming and it only made sense that inside, plastic would fall, like water. The installation took eight 12-14 hour days working non stop to create. : ) Crystal’s Facebook
