Distance Learning - The New Norm
With Distance Learning becoming the new norm across America, exacerbating the vast inequities that we're already prevalent within our education system, especially here in the Twin Cities, concrete solutions regarding what the future of education looks like have never been more necessary.
The harsh reality of educating within the 21st century, is that our educators have to compete against the internet, and the constant entertainment it provides, for their student's ever dwindling attention.
Add to that the lack of reflection and cultural connection in the classroom and we find ourselves facing the problem that will define our generation.
Our entire social and cultural paradigm is shifting.
The future of work is shifting.
The problems future generations will be tasked to solve are shifting.
If we don't prepare our nations youth for the world that they are inheriting, one ripe with complexities and instability, as opposed to the world we've always known, we'll find ourselves with a population ill-equipped to contribute. Specifically, a black, indigenous, latinx, and asian population ill-equipped to contribute.
The solution to this defining moment, isn't clear, but what I do know is that our youth need hope, our youth need mentors, and our youth need reflection.
