unpopular opinion but i think we should only hire disabled people to be support specialists and accommodation advocates. i am so sick of having to go to an abled person who has never experienced the barrier of ableism in their life and trying to explain why i need certain accommodations because the âcare and insightâ they have to provide is always worse
The systematic dismantling of public health services in the United States, including childhood vaccinations that have saved millions of live

if you look unwashed and underdressed at your appointment your doctor wonât take you seriously but if you dress up and do your makeup and whatever your doctor will also still not take you seriously. i hope this guide is helpful đ
As someone with an undiagnosed disability (99% sure its fibromyalgia) that I've had since I was a little kid, I've never understood why adults feel the need to enter the Pain Olympics whenever a kid says they're in pain.
I cannot tell you how many times an adult told me over the years that "you're too young to be in that kind of pain" or the classic "wait until you're my age", insinuating that I was a little bitch who could never grasp what true pain really is.
Just yesterday I was in class and a guy near me mentioned that his back hurt, which our teacher heard and said "you're too young, just wait until your 50s, then it'll really hurt", and I hear this guy very quietly say that he has scoliosis.
It's so annoying. Why do you need to win the Pain Olympics? Why do you need to prove to a child that your life is harder than theirs? This is the reason I didn't know I had chronic pain until I was 16

pre meds take complaints about doctors and medical negligence sooo personally like theyâre preemptively defending the shitty behavior and ableism they know theyâre going to engage in. i want to have optimism for the future of healthcare but the people going into it already do not care about patients and seem to be getting a head start on their âyouâre lying about your symptoms, go lose weight about itâ mentality
they need to invent a digestive system that behaves predictably and correctly
i really hate the way that my severe gerd manifests. it feels like extreme hunger, like starvation levels but eating is not the solution and in fact makes it a million times worse, like a band is tightening around my chest and stomach and back and itâs burning until iâm on my hands and knees waiting to fall asleep or for someone to just put me out of my misery. haha does anyone else get that
They should invent doctors that actually give a shit about your rapidly decreasing health and rising levels of chronic pain that are slowly taking over and ruining your life.
hey its me your doctor. idgaf

So can non-disabled people stop doing that thing where they act like itâs morally righteous to force yourself to work while youâre sick and assume taking sick days automatically equates to laziness. Any time now. Thatâd be great
The leader of the scout group I help out at approached me out of hours while I was walking to work to tell me that people have been talking behind my back because I missed more sessions than I attended this term (on account of having Covid twice) and was like âWe all show up when weâre sick because we take responsibilityâ and I felt really shitty and guilty and cried the whole workday then I got home and told my mum and she was like âSo they want you to throw up on the kids? Thatâs dodgy. They donât even pay you. Stop goingâ and a wave of serenity hit me like a bus
neurologist finally got on board with an mri to test me for ms after my insurance lapsed and i had no way to pay for the scan -_-
people who try to justify their lack of concern over covid (particularly new variants) by saying "don't worry, the only people seriously affected already had pre-existing health conditions!" are so unbelievably disgusting. how do you say shit like that without recognizing not only your privilege but your selfishness.
so just fuck everybody else with compromised immune systems. fuck the eldery, fuck the children, fuck the disabled and everyone trying to protect their loved ones. your immune system can handle this so i guess it's fine to not mask or take any sort of precaution. just spread that shit all over your community because at least you're not gonna be the one to die a horrible death. fuck every last one of you.
don't worry guys, only the weak and vulnerable are dropping like flies! false alarm! everything may proceed as usual <3
if accessibility can break a system then the system needs to be broken
fr though that heartburn was so bad it almost felt like a heart attack. i had to crawl to the bathroom on my hands and knees because it hurt too much to stand. i was producing sooo much saliva i felt like my chihuahua when he gets his seizures. truly cannot convey with words how badly this hurt
