Ant-eating is already a risky business to begin with, what with the biting, the stinging, the formic acid, and the ability to summon an entire army of vengeful sisters on one's head -- even the smallest worker is no joke. This little jumper sized up the situation and not only chose violence, but apparently chose violence against the biggest damn ant it could find.

The emotional skill of resilience visualized as a physical space would be like the synaptic gap, the sodium potassium pump, the part of the primordial jellyfish that's both anus and mouth, the seats in an auditorium, and the sound waves, and the odors, and the available oxygen.

It's actually the skill of identifying the potential for a reactive response. It's like taking care of your body enough to handle things. It's a skill of preparation. So far at least that's what it feels like to me.

We have a complex rock here from the Franklin mine in New Jersey (itself named for Benjamin Franklin), where we have white Calcite and Willemite (see http://bit.ly/2GhhXnj), red Zincite (see http://bit.ly/2swKnHX) and black cubes and octahedra of Franklinite (see http://bit.ly/2CrkoS0) disseminated into the matrix amongst the other minerals. The rocks of the Franklin mines are probably skarns (see http://bit.ly/2siU5gK and http://bit.ly/2nJRB6G), that formed when granites intruded into (in this case) half billion year old Cambrian/Ordovician limestones and baked them in their mutual juices until all sorts of interesting contact metamorphic minerals form in zoned aureoles around the cooling intrusion.
