“yeah? i’m sure our music taste is similar too.” he states before laughing at his comment with a nod of his head, “i mean some throwbacks are always good.. but sometimes people have poor taste in music.” kai admits with a shake of his head. “definitely, i’ll give you my honest feedback afterwards.” 

he grins over towards the other, “yeah? just shoot me a message the next time you have a gig and i’ll be sure to make it out.” he states, it’ll be something fun and light, he couldn’t recall the last time he really went to anything like that. 

kai didn’t know much about the other, but the more he learned, he more he realized that they’re similar in some ways. he wasn’t going to force anything out of the other as well. a small smile breaks out as he nods his head, “yeah, for sure.” he says, “i’m definitely going to be in a party mood since i won’t have training for a while until the snow clears.” 

eyes flickers over towards the other, taking in what he said before blowing out a small breath. “shit, that’s the worst. i’m sorry, dude.” he mentions with a shake of his head. kai had a fair share of shitty ‘parents,’ and it impacted him way more than he’d like people to believe. “that’s good, speaking of i really need to come to one of your gigs.” 

“there’s nothing wrong with liking your own company,” he nods his head knowing that there were many times where he wanted to be left alone whenever he was in a mood, most of the time to reflect on everything. “do your parents compare you guys or something?” he asks, curious about his family aspect, it was so different compared to his. “that can be lonely sometimes though, i hope there’s someone you can talk things out with if needed.” 

“maybe you guys could get used to seeing each other again?” kai mentions with a rise of his brow. a slight smile appearing across his lips hearing that he was happy to see them doing what they love. “so, what i’m hearing is that you’re a lone-wolf?” a teasing smile appears, “do you prefer it that way?” 

the frown upon his face deepens at the sound of his words as he lets out a small sigh. “that’s kinda sad,” he admits looking over towards the other. “i feel like you should throw out an invite, let them know that you want to see them. maybe next year you guys could all reunite and be like how things were before.” 

“just because you guys all do your own thing doesn’t mean that you guys can’t see each other.” he states, a slight frown appearing across his lips. he used to not care about family, not care when the next time he’ll see his birth father, but now he couldn’t imagine his life without his family – the brooks. licking his lips, he lets out a small sigh, “i’m sure that you’re no burden to them… but do you miss being around them?” 

before kai got adopted by the brooks, he was used to being the lone child. the person who struggle with trusting people and holding onto friendships because it was just all unpredictable. however, over the years he grew a bond with a bunch of people and all he had to thank was his mom. “i have two, an older brother as well.” he states, they all had a close knit relationship and he wouldn’t have it any other way. “damn, really? not even for the holiday’s?” 

“i do,” he nods his head smiling at the thought. “cutest little thing, but she can definitely run her mouth a whole lot.” he adds before nodding once more. “she does, lives with my parents not too far from here.” licking his lips, he glances towards the other. “what about you, any siblings?” he inquires as he began to start assembling the house, putting frosting up the side to make it stick together. a chuckle fell from his lips as he nods his head, “good idea! that’s one way to ensure we win.” 

a chuckle fell from his lips at the other’s comment as he nods his head. “oh, trust me i have a whole bunch of ideas curtesy of my younger sister… she had quite the imagination.” he mentions, smiling at the thought of his sister. “you have any other ideas you want to add to the table?” he asks before opening up one can of frosting. 

“it’s simply the only way to keep it all together to ensure nothing will fall apart at the end.” he mentions with a smile growing across his lips. taking the items out of the box, he places everything on the table before glancing over towards the other nodding his head. “yeah, good idea. we can also place the candies on top of the roof to make it look like christmas decorations.” 

a slight chuckle fell from his lips as he glances over towards the other. “you’re fair too kind,” he mentions while licking his lips and grabbing hold of one of the gingerbread kits. “guess it’s because i’ve learned at a young age that life isn’t always going to great. but yeah, it’s not that difficult. my younger sister and i would build one each year. trick is to put a lot of frosting so it won’t fall apart so easily.” 

“we’re competing against everyone.” kai explains to the other, while licking his lips. “so, we build our houses and at the end of the night they choose three winners.” he laughs slightly at the thought of the kids getting upset over losing. “these kids just have to learn that they’re not always going to win at life.” 

kai had been coming to this thing since he was a teenager and ended up growing very fond of it the last few years. it was all part of the christmas tradition that their family had. “say no more, let’s go beat this little kids at building gingerbread houses.” he jokes as he began to walk towards the direction of the table. 

entering the winter wonderland, he glances around at the bright twinkling lights with a grin plastered across his lips. “alright, what do you want to do first?” he inquires, rising a brow. “play some games? team up and make the best gingerbread house or become best friends with the grinch?” 

“I’m assuming people thought I was homeless as I didn’t have any bags on me. I was also tucked up in an overly large hoodie and snuggled up.” Dion nodded his head after calling himself a loner. “I didn’t really have many friends growing up. No-one had the same hobbies as me, so I was doing my own thing. I’m glad I’ve found people who like what I like nowadays.”
