I’m writing a show about Batman. The idea is to show how Bruce Wayne becomes Batman, okay? But first, let me introduce you this vigilante who dresses as a Bat. Everyone gets excited! It’s him! We’re seeing Bruce as Batman! Uh-oh. No. Actually it’s his younger brother, Greg Wayne, who everyone thought was dead.

He gets all of Bruce’s story. He saw his parents dying, he felt guilty for it, etc. Y'all know the story. But it’s not with Bruce, it’s with Greg. Same thing heh? But then people, Batman fans are mad at me because they know Bruce is Batman, not Greg. So annoying! In a way to pretend that I’m not giving the Batman mantle to someone else besides Bruce Wayne, I call Greg “The Bat”. They are still mad because Bruce is being ignored in order to Greg.

Those fans, honestly…

Okay then! I’m killing off Greg in fronf of Bruce. Bruce will see the murder of his only family and starts fighting as The Bat. And then suddenly he’s calling himself Batman, just like that. Because he doesn’t want to live behind his brother’s name, he is not his brother. His fight isn’t Greg’s fight. But Bruce Wayne always need to prove himself to others as Batman, that he is good enough, that he wants to fight because he believes in justice and doing good.

Done, those fans have their so beloved Batman. Can I do my stuff now? Great.

Please, Greg, you’re coming back from the dead (because who cares about character development right? It’s nothing!). But now that Greg is back, he is different. You see, before he was a murdered and didn’t see it as a problem, but when people started questioning it he started wondering if he was a good person. Due to his past with the League of the Assassins and his relationship with Talia al Ghul (something else that is actually Bruce’s storyline, but I’m just so lazy over writing a story of my own), he felt bad for not being a hero. But now that he’s back? He’s different. The Bat is different and he can’t be The Bat anymore. So I just need to find a nice name for him, that is related to comics so those annoying comic books fans won’t bother me. Hm, lemme pic one here… Oh okay! Nightwing. That’s a nice name, it suits Greg.

Change Greg Wayne to Sara Lance, The Bat to The Canary, Bruce Wayne to Laurel Lance, Batman to Black Canary and Nightwing to White Canary. Now it doesn’t sound absurd that comic fans are annoyed over Sara calling herself White Canary now, does it?
