It is your universe.

There is no one else here, just you, and nothing is being withheld from you.

You are completely on your own.

Everything is available for direct knowing.

No one else has anything you need.

No one else can lead you, pull you, push you or carry you.

The Ashtavakra Gita is a classic advaita text that presents the dialogue between the sage Ashtavakra and King Janaka. Stating that you are the pure witnessing presence (Atman). Everything else — including the physical body, the mind's thoughts, and the identity of the ego — are objects that you observe. Unlike other scriptures, this is direct and radical. It doesn’t focus on rituals, discipline, or gradual progress. Instead, it points straight to this truth: ~ You are already free. 

Awareness is the absolute, primordial, and changeless state of being, while consciousness is the relative, changeable "I am" presence that appears with the body. Awareness is the witness of consciousness, which requires an object to exist (like a screen to a movie), whereas awareness requires nothing.

the path forward seems to go back,

the direct path seems long,

true power seems weak,

true purity seems tarnished,

true steadfastness seems changeable,

true clarity seems obscure,

the greatest art seems unsophisticated,

the greatest love seems indifferent,

the greatest wisdom seems childish.
