Pony will sometimes take advantage of the fact that Darry looks so much like their father to be annoying. So at first glance I don't think you can necessarily see they're brothers. The resemblance is their but not unless your looking for it. Think of the scene in the book before the rumble when the random hood asks Pony if he knows Darry and Pony says he would hope so because that's his brother.

If Darry embarrasses him in public cause older brothers do that he will yell, "I dont know him!" At the top of his lungs. Then cut to Darrel getting the nastiest looks from old lady's.

I like the little detail of James Ortiz playing the newscaster at the beginning of the movie (who broke the news about astrophage that Grace was playing on his phone) and then his voice being the one Grace picks for Rocky. Maybe he liked it because he subconsciously affiliated that voice with a time before he got wrapped up in Project Hail Mary or something heartbreaking like that

Really funny to think about the knowledge gap Eridians and humans are going to have about each other the next time they make contact due to Grace spending the rest of his life on Erid (plus all the information aboard the Hail Mary, and especially the laptops Stratt put basically entire internet on!)

Eridians are going to have a fairly solid grasp of the English language (and possibly even some others), an intimate understanding of the environmental conditions a human needs to thrive as well as their nutritional and psychological needs, a solid grasp of a number of scientific concepts discovered by humans, and decent familiarity with human culture and customs (if probably an American-centric one). Some Eridians might even be explicitly trained as diplomats or ambassadors with the expectation that one day the two cultures might interact more regularly.

Whereas humans are like. Well. There sure are talking rocks in space somewhere!

I love it when Darry fics are based more off Patrick’s Darry because whenever his Darry is about to cry his nose gets red. I love imagining that Darry having a red nose is the brothers tell tale sign that they went too far in their play fights

Who even know anymore

Darry would enjoy Project Hail Mary. He doesn’t enjoy movies, I know that, but if Ponyboy put it on he’d be the dad in the corner watching with his arms crossed ‘not enjoying the movie’. The thing he’d take away most from it is how easy Ryland’s decision of leaving behind everything was, because DARRY WAS IN THOSE SHOES. He gave up everything not only for his brothers but for his friends too. He’d deny getting emotional at that part but he absolutely would.
