one way i like mack characterized is as someone who may be impatient in the moment but is like [monumentally] patient when it comes to the grand scheme of things

because obviously rick taught him well about how things take time you just have to be consistent so mack holds himself back, he knows if he works hard he'll see progress, he knows an injury must be healed before he's back on the ice no matter how much he burns to be out there, he knows the stanley cup won't be won in two years etc

so he's not worrying about his or wills progress - the progress will come with the grind and he knows that's exactly what both him and will are best at, this relentless competitiveness and drive to be better on the ice

and will that has all the patience in the world when it comes to immediate circumstance - he'll wait out getting benched, he'll deal with his numerous family and friends always bright and cheery regardless of circumstance, he'll keep his cool when mack is crashing out

but [although he's good at hiding it] he wanted his progress yesterday he's fundamentally frustrated by his own injury, by his slow build-up in the nhl, by his own lack of defensive play

he thinks he should be a perfect liney for mack NOW not later, and that's the sort of impatience that drives him to go hard in the grind of it all

and i find it fascinating how they perfectly balance each other in that way instead of growing frustrated by their differences they draw from the other to settle themselves

who will post video evidence of their hangouts who will yap about what will and mack did together

famous gatekeepers or the geeks who love to tease them about how they're "on another level" ???
