Britney Spears to auction VMA outfit and donate proceeds to Louisiana flood victims

Britney Spears is using her upcoming performance at the VMAs to give back to Louisiana, which was slammed by mass flooding. Fans immediately began sending in donations through Crowdrise for a chance to win the already iconic outfit. As Britney has explained, there’s a touching reason why Louisiana holds a special place in her heart.

It’s okay not to have the latest Nike app/sportswear.

It’s okay to go without the FitBit.

It’s okay to not eat clean if you can’t afford the produce.

It’s okay to not be able to afford quinoa or almond flower.

It’s okay to order a pizza if it’s all you can afford. 

It’s okay not to have a gym membership.

It’s okay for your workout to be push-ups and sit-ups because you don’t have equipment.

It’s okay to miss a workout because you worked an eight hour shift and just need to collapse on your bed.

62 - El Veterano

Counter to popular belief, the Stonewall Riot was not simply angry white cis gay men.

One of two people arrested was Ray Castro, a gay Puerto Rican immigrant.

That night at Stonewall, he resisted his arresting officers. When they tried to place him inside the cop car, he kicked the vehicle door with full force, knocking both officers on the floor.

He was eventually taken into custody and released.

55 - La Revolucionaria

Revolutions are often started by those who have little left to lose.

On the night of the Stonewall Riots, Rivera – an orphaned, homeless, trans* /gender-variant woman, sex worker of Venezuelan and Puerto Rican descent - was a few days shy of 18. But none of that stopped her from revolting when a group of cops raided the Stonewall Inn.

Despite raids being a common occurrence at the time, Sylvia and her friend Marsha P. Johnson decided that enough was enough. They began to throw bottles at the police, and with the help of other queer people tired of police oppression, ultimately barricaded the invading officers inside the bar.

“Terrill began to focus his political energies on producing work for the Chicano/Latino gay community. In 1989 he began work on Chicos Modernos, a Spanish-language AIDS educational comic book targeted to Latino men who have sex with other men, which was distributed at gay bars throughout California along with condom giveaways”

Got hella emotional seeing the burned Maricon Collective mural.
