Create at least one 8 1/2 x 11 image with text for our "A Day without Plastic" Display that will be installed in the Gannett Tripp Library lobby display cases for the month of March as part of the global Climate Change Teach In (March 29). 

Using Hirst's spot paintings or Kusama's polka dots for inspiration, you will create your own "spot" drawing, painting or collage to photograph. There are many ways to approach this. You can simply draw circles and arrange or decorate as you wish, then photograph on your phone and upload. You can make perfect circles using image editing software like  Photoshop, Illustrator, PixlrX . Collage is another possibility.

Collaborative color project

As part of a study of Grayson Perry and Damien Hirst's artworks that question, "What is a relic?" students in Digital Studio: Art without Borders met with Katy Galvin in the Elmira College - Gannett-Tripp Library to learn about the "relics" found in the Mark Twain Room and Elmira College archives. They will be creating their own relics (as inspired by Perry and Hirst) for a class project.

Collage can question the notions of traditional authorship by isolating, reframing, recycling, regurgitating, and reproducing ideas and images that are not originally our own. The method we used is called Cubomania, a surrealistic style invented by Romanian artist Gherasim Luca.
