for anyone wanting advice for how to respond, esp when it's being used in casual/joking contexts, I'm a big fan of going "maaaan, can you reclaim that?" in a Somewhat light hearted tone. this is good for if ur at family dinner or whatever imo.

I absolutely love you and I would like to think this could work but I dont think that tone or the word reclaim are going to gain any grounds talking to super casual insensitive people. And honestly fucking look at them. They usually can reclaim the word with MORE rights than us if you analyze how deranged their lives are. Herein lies the problem of the r word being a common widespread colloquialism along with a slur for not only invisible disabilities but the inevitability of decay in human life marching towards death itself. The dirty dozens. Its an ultimate catch 22, is it more insensitive and unethical to actually classify more severely disabled people as having a right to say it or is it more ethical to be inclusive of the nuanced college leftist infighting mobile internet implosion of gen z and gen alpha and say all these kids on twitter can reclaim it, so many of them are neurodivergent!
