“Home, huh?” Marnie winced slightly as she remembered the argument she’d had with her parents before leaving the house this morning. “I, uh…I don’t really feel much like going home at the moment. Family troubles, y’know?” She sniffed, moving a wet strand of hair from her face. “We could go chill somewhere else though. Do you know anywhere that is preferably dry and warm?” She asked with a hopeful smile.

He wouldn’t argue-- even if the only safe place he knew was his home. “Say no more, fam, I know just the place.” With that, Brooklyn scooped the small brunette up into his arms, still doing his best to shield her from the rain as he started into a long-strided sprint. “Hang on-- I’ve gotta catch a current in this rain.” Spreading his wings, he kicked off the ground and, to his efforts, caught a strong updraft that carried the pair up and over the buildings. 

“I’m sorry, dude. I’ve had a rough day.” She looked up at him, her weary eyes meeting his as rain water dripped from her hair. She then sneezed, rubbing her nose after it with a wet sleeve. “God, going out today without a jacket on was certainly not one of my best ideas, huh?”

“Yeah, probably not the best.” Gently nudging his arm, he gestured for her to move with him. “Um... let me take you home. You’re... heh-- you’re soaked.” His eyes widened, darting around a bit as he realized how odd that might have sounded. “I-- I mean, if that’s okay with you. I can just... go if you want.”

“Jesus, Brooklyn!” She shouted before huddling beneath Brooklyn’s wing for shelter. “How about y’give a girl a warning next time you decide to just swoop down next to her, huh?” Soon after the words left her mouth, she realised what she said was perhaps maybe too harsh–after all, he was just trying to help her. It had been a long day for the small, drenched girl.

Sheepishly, he rubbed his neck and tried his best to smile at her. “I just-- I was, uh... I saw you, and...” Nice. 

“Thanks a lot, jackass!” She exclaimed angrily towards the driver, throwing her arms into the air. Things just couldn’t get any worse.

He peeked down over the ledge, spying the brunette. He’d know that voice anywhere. Without much thought, Brooklyn glided down, landing silently next to her-- extending one wing over her head to shield her from getting anymore drenched. “Been a while.”
