Fundamental design principles are introduced through solid void transformations 3 exercises build in scale from detail to site. A. Wood Word Joints combine language and material. The joint is examined for conceptual and structural clarity. A word play operates the joint along XYZ. B. A Volume of Joints recalls the tectonic alliances established within the space of a cube. The joints are rescalyed, reconfigured and transformed as a matrix of relationships. The assembly is dense and puzzling. C. Out of Joint Site aerates the solid state. The joints are dislocated and extended along their logic and trajectory.
