Lol at the assumption that American-born players do not get booed in the states is only because we do not give a damn. That’s hilarious. There are plenty of players who have chosen to play for other national teams even after coming through the US Youth System who play here all the time (um…Mexican national team?). USWNT fans aren’t an apathetic bunch. I can guarantee you that if you stand with supporters during one of those matches they can tell you who those players are. They are not booed because, as a collective, we aren’t bitter about the one(s) that got away. We move on. As should the Canadians who are still bitter about Sydney’s choice, the same choice that was made years ago. Did hear anyone crying foul when she was in World Cups for our U20’s teams or maybe that’s because they didn’t care. Funny thing what a gold medal can do.

Also might I point out just how ridiculous it is that articles are written, typed, up and printed about justifying the act of “booing” an opposing player. I’d respect people more if they just admitted that this is all because Sydney is a great player and they’re angry. Don’t make it about some perceived notion of loyalty. Dual-citizenship helps and hurts programs all the time…in all sports. Pay more attention to the game, you’re supposedly so passionate about.
