Every time there's a big writer's strike or whatnot it becomes starkly clear how many self-proclaimed leftists think that only people who perform manual labour which results in a physical product that you can hold in your hands count as workers and everybody else is a parasite of some description.

This is what it means when you say ‘it takes a village’ it’s kindness, help, and guidance. This helps not only the student, but the caregiver as well. We should all be more like this teacher. There is always room for a little more kindness, especially when it comes to children

My kids’ school called today, and I was afraid my daughter had gotten in trouble during her summer program, but it was something similar to this instead. They called to ask if there were any big changes during the summer that they should keep an eye on them about. They also asked if we wanted them to send us some resources to help them deal with the grief we’re all still struggling with from my younger brother passing back in February (It’s a lot of the same office ladies from when I was in school, and one of the teachers is a friend of mine. They know how hard it is to find childrens’ counseling near us that takes insurance.) I got off the phone with literal tears in my eyes.
