Sensei Knows Best

He stayed silent, letting the situation remain how it was. He wanted to savor it because who knew when it would happen again. After all, Kakeru was a teacher now. Acheron couldn’t let his career end because of this. So reluctantly he spoke. “Achey, huh? That’s quite a nickname, Sensei~.” he said though his body was too comfortable with how he was positioned. He was still exhausted from the run he did, in order to get as far as he could from Suou. He wanted to tease Kakeru further but he decided to behave himself. “How are you feeling?” he asked as he pushed himself into a sitting position. 

He took note if the other’s complexion. At least he’s not as pale as he was earlier. Acheron thought breathing a sigh of relief. “I’m sorry for earlier, Kakeru-sensei. We didn’t mean to give you a fright…I guess our acting got a tad bit too intense.” he explained. Dante was right. Better that he thinks it was something else than to have Kakeru find out that they’re vampires. Demon born vampires, but vampires none the less. 

He tried to keep himself sitting up despite his body leaning towards the wall again for support. He had to make it appear that he was alright. That the run and fright from the other teacher had not worn him out. Course he could always blame the heat for this. 

He looked away not sure how to continue this. As joyous as he was that he was called his old nickname…he now realized that it must be weird for Kakeru. Every time he thought of just vanishing, leaving Kakeru alone so that he could live his life, his heart would freeze and he felt short of breath. 

Was this what his parents explained as love? 

Or was he really just that obsessed with the other? 

Though he could skid by barely because Acheron had been sick looking and it didn't look right to move him at the moment. It would be a close call, but the principle should let it pass so long as the student in question didn't try and push the matter as it being something more than what it was, a teacher comforting their student who looked unwell.

As Acheron moved off of his lap Kakeru slowly stood and brushed his lap off, looking up to the ceiling as the bell for release rang. Three O'clock, he never usually went home so early but he wanted to do nothing more than sleep.

“A slip of the tongue, I assure you. I'm sure plenty others have given you similar nicknames or messed your name up when pronouncing it. I would appreciate you keeping... this simply between us. Now, your brother has to be worried about you Achery---Acheron,” damn, “-it's best if you get up. If you're having a hard time walking I can take you to the nurses office and have the doctor page your brother.”

And Dante wanted to keep it that way. “Tch.” Was all that he said as he went back to reading and tried to get Acheron to go back to sleep. However the moment Acheron caught sight of Suou he cursed vividly in their native language. So much for keeping his twin calm. Acheron was up and ran for it. “Thanks so much.” Dante growled before gathering up their things and then walked on, watching as his twin tripped over himself. “I hate it when he goes into that panic.” Dante growled as he walked past the other two not really caring. Now he had to go calm Acheron down again. Great. Just bloody damn fantastic. 

“Ra give me strength…please.” he grumbled. 

What was with today?! 

Acheron nearly hyperventilated as he tried to find another hiding spot. Suou scared the crap out of him! He wasn’t as bad as the council but damn he could serve on it! He kept tripping over himself but he didn’t care as long as he got as far as he could from Suou-sensei. Acheron loved how Dante wasn’t afraid of Suou and wanted to know why or how he could keep-oh yea. He was used to handling those types of situations that called for a poker face. 

Finally reaching an area that he knew he was safe in, Acheron stopped running and panted. “Sons of the Sahara…” he growled. Maybe he should have just stayed home today…with how this day was going he wasn’t sure if he’d have the courage to come back and face Kakeru tomorrow. He was shaking so much that his legs gave out and he fell to the floor. “Ow…” he whimpered. He knew that Dante would find him and with most of his energy spent, the floor cool against his hot skin, he was ready to curl up and go to sleep. However he couldn’t. “Fine, body. We’ll rest here.” he said as he got himself to sit up and lean against the wall. 

He was thinking of covering American History the Cold War though there was also the chance he would do a refresher course on Japan Feudal Era since they had the test coming up soon. It really depended on the books and what exactly the kids needed. It was hard to decide based on that alone though as everyone had something that they were strong in and something they were weak in. Being a teacher wasn't easy but Kakeru had to admit that he loved doing his job more than anything else, that was why he was still a teacher after all. It also gave him the perfect place to mess with someone.

As he rounded the corner that would eventually lead him to the library Kakeru blinked at seeing someone sitting on the ground. He stopped and looked around, expecting someone else to run over to the kid seeing as it looked like he was waiting for someone, but when the teacher didn't see or hear another person he slowly started to approach them. In order to become a teacher Kakeru had to take a psychology class to help him better understand the children and how a human reacted to certain situation. That being the case he was fairly good at handling people, even when they cried. Teachers were often a source of comfort for someone because of this reason.

There was something different though, when he realized who exactly the boy on the ground was. Acheron was the one in class who had that book with him, the one that Renge said he locked away in the cupboard in his room. That book had started the odd situations he was in today. What made it even weirder though was the longer he stared at Acheron the stranger he started to feel.

As Kakeru reached his hand out to lightly shake the boy and see if he was awake, another sharp pain ran straight through his head, causing him to wince again. The teachers breathing increased as his heart did, almost to the point where it was painful and clenching his chest he moved to sit down next to the other instead. Wrapping an arm around Acheron's shoulder he lowered the boy down to rest his head against his lap and then slowly trailed the fingers from his shoulder to his hair.

“Seems I'm the big spoon again, Achey.” ….. What?

Why did he say that?

Acheron pouted and continued to sit up. “Dante-” He let out a yelp as his twin massaged his neck. “Dante you-not fair…” he moaned and relaxed even further. He yawned cursing at his twin. The heat didn’t help either and before Acheron knew it, he had curled up onto his twin’s lap. “Go on to sleep Ash…you stayed up too late again.” he said in calm and soothing voice. Acheron tried to fight it but he eventually fell asleep. 

Dante decided that they would stay here, behind the bleachers. No one knew that they were here anyways and they didn’t really care for the other teachers. He pulled over his bag and rummaged through before taking out a book to read. 

He never heard the bell ring to end the class, being too engrossed into his book. Acheron remained asleep only to wake when he sensed someone near the bleachers again. Dante took note and sighed softly before listening. It couldn’t be one of the other teachers could it? Judging from the smell there was a bit of perfume/cologne but that could be someone trying to cover up any bad smell. 

Now it was clearer. Sort of. There was a masculine smell, indicating that it was a boy. So why did he smell perfume-ah crap. Probably another pair of students who want to actually be naughty on the grounds. They moved away and Dante stroked his twin’s hair to help keep him calm. He still strained to hear when his nose caught the scent of someone else. 

Was his face red? He hadn't noticed. Rubbing his cheeks and nose the history teacher tried to get control of himself before answering the other back. “Ah, I seemed to have... walked in on something I shouldn't. A few students getting... frisky under the bleachers.” He laughed a bit awkwardly and rubbed the back of his neck, hoping that would be enough to cover his tracks in front of the other.

“Did you punish them?” The way he said it actually caused a small shiver to run down Kakeru's spine and he took a small step back away from the other.

“And just how do you purpose I punish them, Suou?” He was always curious as to what the other meant when he said that. There were rumors floating around of course and apparently Suou used the word punish and reward a lot. But it was the way he said it that always sparked interest in Kakeru.

A smirk actually made it's way onto Suou's face but just as quick as it was there it was gone and Kakeru actually wondered if he was seeing things. “I think it should be quite obvious, Kakeru-sensei.”

“Actually, Suou, the only one that it is obvious to is you.”

“Hm, and here I thought I made myself quite clear.” The teacher stepped around the younger and made his way toward the bleachers, making Kakeru blink and look over his shoulder to the man.

“Wait—Suou what did you mean?” He really wanted to know but apparently he wouldn't find out today. Pouting a bit Kakeru turned and looked to Renge who had finally made his over, dangling a key in his hand.

Dante had no idea if the council even knew what the two were up to. They are probably playing into Ash’s game just to keep him from having another episode…he thought and his best not to shudder. If this was what the council was doing, then Dante wondered what would happen if they learned of Acheron’s feelings for the human. Now it wasn’t as uncommon for one of myth and legend, to take on a human lover; even have kids with them. But at the same time it was a dangerous gamble because of the half-lings. Kakeru’s case was a prime example. 

“Ra help us…” Dante muttered, having dismissed Renge as important. Even with most teachers hating him and Acheron, Dante still regarded them as unimportant and it showed with his work. Kakeru was the lone exception. He trusted Ayako whenever he asked about the child, well now grown man. He was glad to see Kakeru alive and hoped that he would have a good life, full of what he wanted out of it. 

Seeing as Kakeru had a work period next, meaning it was one of his empty blocks, he had gone down to the nurses station to get some medicine for his head. She didn't have anything really strong but it was enough to quell the pain to let him keep teaching for the rest of the day. School didn't have many periods left and all he had remaining was his tenth graders and the study sessions he held after school. He was actually quite tempted to cancel them today but there were a few kinds in the class that he enjoyed using to his advantage. One of them was keeping an eye on a school club for him while the other was silently tampering with it unknowingly. It was fun for him.

He made his way down the hall back toward his locker, his hands stuffed into his pockets as he passed a girl who called to get his attention. After learning that Renge was looking for him Kakeru turned around and made his way outside toward the football field, only stopping when something caught his attention out of the corner of his eyes. Slowly, he made his way toward the bleachers and peeked around them, his jaw slowly falling slack at the image that befell him.

He had seen a lot of things in his twenty seven years of life. But this was new.

“Oi, shut up.” Dante snapped quietly at them. “Just get your damn work done.” Tch, this is why I hate human female groups…nothing but gaggles of stupid irritating high pitch laughs. Acheron didn’t blame his twin for being aggravated. These girls were able to get on his bad side within minutes. And that was a feat in itself since Acheron was known to be a bit more tolerant at the school. At home well that was a different story. 

Thankfully everyone became silent after Dante spoke. Both boys would look up to look at Kakeru, making sure that he was alright. Their hearing picked up on the blood rushing in some of the students which left Acheron’s stomach in a knot. He hadn’t fed all day. Normally he had a bag or two of blood in the morning to keep him satisfied all day or until he returned home. But this morning he was running late having stayed up all night working on his commission piece and a personal project. 

Dante caught notice that Acheron had started to bite his lip and cursed. He’ll have to feed from me…we can’t let anyone know what we are. 

Lifting his head up he flashed the Gym teacher a smile, though a pained one, and nodded his head. “Renge, I'm fine I just got a bit dizzy.” Kakeru flinched when the other reached his hand out and touched his forehead, and though part of him was tempted to move away he forced himself to remain still to keep the students as clam as possible.

“You don't have a fever, it could be the heat. You should open a window in here. Go wash your face in the bathroom I'll keep an eye on the class.”

Hyacinth Academy. Was this even the right place? Teddie had never actually been to a school, except during culture week’s crossdressing pageant and some occasional visits to see his friends.

At least this person was right. Teddie WAS adorable.

After Kakeru’s memories had been sealed away and he said goodbye to his friend’s sleeping form, Acheron went berserk. He created the worse kind of havoc anyone had seen since he was toddler. Dante didn’t even want to remember the body count that Acheron had tallied when he ran off. It took Dante months, almost a year before Acheron would even look at him and speak. With their mother it took at least a month. 

And despite Acheron knowing the laws…it was rough. Dante hated himself for doing what he did, but it was for the safety of the community. It still hurt. Acheron did eventually move on about five years later, but he didn’t have the same zeal that he had. No one was there to make him smile like how he would with Kakeru. Those first few days without the boy…Dante shuddered. It broke his heart because Acheron was expecting to see the other. And that look on his face when he was reminded…

Oh yea Dante spoke to anyone who dared to remind his twin about the sealing ceremony. And those who did it for fun, well Ammit probably enjoyed those new snacks. When they came to the town to get away from the memories that had caused Acheron to lose interest in everything, they were surprised to find a grown Kakeru. 

“Your mothers a model Sensei?” Kakeru lifted his head to look to the student who spoke and gave them a short nod before placing the paper back down onto the desk.

“She started work before I was born, she's very pretty. Much more pretty than me.” He gave the boy a wink and laughed as the kids cheeks lit up bright red. He collected his book from Acheron's desk and paused again when he accidentally knocked another book to the ground in the process. Giving a small apology he picked the book up off of the floor blinked a few times at it, slowly standing up and flipping it open. “It's a book on hair? That's odd...” He could have sworn he had seen it before, his imagination? Kakeru didn't read many English books.

A sharp pain and ringing noise ran though the teachers head at that moment, causing him to stumble a bit and drop the books back down to the floor. He barely managed to catch himself on his own desk as another student rushed up to his side, attempting to steady him and keep him from falling to the ground. Kakeru placed his free hand against the side of his head and leaned a bit away from the student when she stuttered out if he was alright, for some reason her voice sounding much farther away than it should have. “M'fine. We should switch to independent study now.” As he tried to make his way over to his chair the students exchanged looks of worry, unsure if this should be taken to the nurse or not. Kakeru slipped into his seat and rested his head in his hands, nodding only when the student asked again if he was alright.

Ayako was never more grateful for him being put to sleep than in that moment. After Dante had finished the ceremony she let Acheron say goodbye to Kakeru's sleeping form before leaving with him for the week. She would have to return to work soon but next time Kakeru could not accompany her... the thought was almost lonely.

“In January of 1692, the daughter and niece of Reverend Samuel Parris of Salem Village became ill. When they failed to improve, the village doctor, William Griggs, was called in.” The teacher read from his textbook as he made his way down the rows of desks, some students laughing quietly to each other as others actually followed along in his words. “His diagnosis of bewitchment and put into motion the forces that would ultimately result in the death by hanging of nineteen men and women. In addition, one man was crushed to death; seven others died in prison, and the lives of many were irrevocably changed.” He stopped in the back of the room near the last row of desks and placed a hand on his hip, the other closing the book as he looked up.

“To understand the events of the Salem witch trials, it is necessary to examine the times in which accusations of witchcraft occurred. Can someone tell me some of the problems going on around the time of the trials?” As he waited for people to answer Kakeru started to move again, slowly making his way up the last row of desks and eventually stopping next to the twins. “No? Did none of you pay attention in ninth grade?”

“But Sensei that was forever ago.” One girl complained and the teacher faked a laugh at her.

Steeling himself he came over to help Ayako. “Mom please I don’t-No…No you can’t!” he shouted only for Syrina to place her hand on her son’s mouth. “Acheron please…you know the law. I know that you care for Kakeru, but you have to understand that this is something you can’t change.” she said knowing how heart-broken her son was. The look of horror, anger, desperation…she wished that he had remained asleep. “I know My Little Imp…I know.” she whispered as he fought. “Take him and go. I’ll be there shortly.” Syrina instructed. 

A snicker escaped Acheron as he looked down to Kakeru. “I’m a bit tired. I had stayed up most of last night finishing a commission piece.” he replied. “Come on, Mr. Winner.” he said with a smile. 

Ayako looked down to her watch and slowly stood off of the bed, starting to remove the dress and put back on her jeans and shirt. It would be bad to walk around the mansion in something her friend and boss was making for a show. “He should be.” She replied, tugging on her belt and adjusting it into place before starting for the door. “He's always with Acheron.” She quickly and gracefully made her way down the hall to Acheron's room, quietly knocking on the door before pushing it open. Kakeru had managed to wind his legs around his friends body and was almost on top of the other, sound asleep inside the large bed that could fit an entire family.

Seeing as how the first race went to Kakeru he laughed. “Alright, three out of five. We can always pick this up later.” Acheron didn’t have work since Makoto had pretty much forbidden it while his arm healed.

“Later?” The pause button was pushed and Kakeru turned to his friend, tilting his head. “Do you want to sleep now? If you do that means I am still the big spoon!” He won the race! He wanted his prize.

“What weird things has she been saying?” he asked. If he could help Kakeru understand then that was even better. He would do everything and possibly anything for Kakeru. His mother said that he spoiled the child but Acheron didn’t see why it was a bad thing. Kakeru was more than just a guest. He was his friend and he obviously cared for him. Probably more than he should.

The first race was Kakeru's and the little boy grinned brightly as he crossed the finish like, tilting his head back to look up to Acheron. “Three out of five, Achey?” If they actually played the game five times, Kakeru was getting more tired.
