Just a quick update for Tyrones great chase. It’s currently only posted to Kongregate and FastSWF. It only got a couple hundred views on Kong, but I suspect that’s in part due to the old thumbnail not being very good. 

I’ve drawn a new thumbnail. I also added a warning when leaving edit mode in the lobby, as I’ve noticed the few users who actually use it have a habit of accidentally closing it without saving their changes first. 

I will go back and add links the the portals I have posted the game on as I upload it. That’s all!

After a long hiatus I’ve finished Tyrone’s Great Chase 1.2, and it’s back online and better than ever!   

It’s been a long journey, but this will be the last major update for Tyrone. Maybe some day we’ll see Tyrone’s Great Chase 2? Who knows? But in the mean time, enjoy!

What’s New In 1.2

Furniture now has color options; select an object and click the palette icon to switch between 3 alternate color options

For those who don’t know, Stemplay is a flash portal I created with AV Arcade and have been building on/up-keeping for around 6 years now. Despite this, I've decided not to renew the stemplay.net domain this year. I've dropped probably at least $300+ on the site over the years and never seen a penny in return. 

Honestly I don’t think this would be a problem, but the site just isn't picking up momentum like I hoped. Most of the active users left after the first purge so these days most of the traffic is just page bounces. The site was always designed to focus on the social aspect of flash portals, so without users, it’s no better than the million other flash portals out there.

I think with the site not very active, and flash portals in general on the decline in favor of mobile games, it just seems like a good time to let the site go. I do have backups, so the could but probably won’t see a return some day.

GiTD is finally over, and I’m quite happy with what I got done. The name of my entry is Tyrone’s Great Chase. The game currently includes,

After voting is done,there’ll still be a ton to ad. Hopefully it shouldn’t take me more than a month to finish and clean up all the bugs. After that I’ll see if I can get a sponsorship and move on to the full release.

A new GiTD (Game in Ten Days) has been running on Kongregate for the last week, the theme being chicken racing. With only two days left before the deadline, I’ve been scrambling to finish my game in time! 

Anyway, I thought I’d just take some time to share this and give a quick screenshot of what’s to come:

So my flash portal, Stemplay.net is officially live as of yesterday. You can read about it on the official release post here. I might later make a blog post detailing the 5 year (wow!) journey to where the site is now, as well as my vision for Stemplay’s future.

From The Beginning

It’s been a long journey. It all started with a dream. A dream to make a very serious animation, about a character DEFINITELY NOT based off of my highschool animation teacher.

The first animation of the series came about when we were asked to make a thanksgiving themed animation in our animation class. Me and my classmate/partner in awesome, dlord230 (AKA Alex) teamed up to create a character better than any character that ever existed. EVER.

I drew the character, he came up with the name/sexy details, and soon the animation was in the works. At the same time, the deadline for the thanksgiving animation had long past, and we had now begun on our Christmas animations. This one was a solo project, but we had too much work to just throw it away, so we just pasted a beard onto Mr Teacher Man, and hoped no one noticed that he was a turkey. And so, the first Mr Teacher Man was born:  Mr Teacher Man's Great Holiday Special Thanksgiving Christmas Adventure.

Later that same year the school board requested our class produce some animations for them to use, about the evils of CYBER BULLYING! At that moment, I knew Mr Teacher Man’s legacy had not ended yet. In a single day, I produced the second animation of the series, Mr Teacher Man Becomes a Cyber Bully. I knew many children of the world looked up to Mr Teacher Man as a role model, so his mistakes would impact them heavily and permanently end cyber bullying forever!

The rest of the year ran its course and I didn’t sign up for Animation 2 the next year. HOWEVER, after a couple weeks in Culinary Arts, I realized I could not ignore my true calling of MAKING MR TEACHER MAN MOVIES, and so I transferred to Animation 2 at the last minute, to end the series... IN 3D!

Unfortunately, a feature length 3D animation wouldn’t be something I could throw together in a day, so I started working early in the year.

To start, I would have to spend weeks modeling many intricate objects and characters.

After much work, I was able to rig and start animating said characters!

With only a week left in the school year, I would have to quickly produce a low quality render, and start rendering something better for later in the summer.

After many weeks of waiting the HD renders were completed! The PNG sequence would have to be imported to Blender for editing, and then be rendered a second time.

And finally a finished product is created and unveiled: Mr Teacher Man Goes To School

Whats Next for Mr Teacher Man?

Well, with Animation class over, I don’t think we’ll be seeing any Mr Teacher Man animations any time soon, however something even better is on the way. A small video game created in the Unity Engine. This game will feature main antagonist of the Mr Teacher Man series, Bobby as an anti hero in this thrilling prequel to Mr Teacher Man Goes To School! The name of this spectacular spin-off? Watchbobs.

The game-play trailer isn’t ready just yet, but in the mean time, here’s a few screenshots to keep you hydrated.

Lately in my animation class, I’ve been pouring my heart and soul into the epic third part of the Mr Teacher Man trilogy. It’s near complete. Currently all that’s left is the credits, prologue, and HD renders. The renders may take a while, but I’m doing my best to cut down on render time. In any case, I think I’ve really outdone myself this time and this animation will LITERALLY BLOW YOU AWAY!!

The other day I was browsing through some game files preserved from before my hard drive crashed. I stumbled upon an old AS2 game I made for GiTD called Slime Bounce (AKA  Sir Jellyton Gordanface III).

It’s a bit of a pain working with frames, and I can tell the code is OLD from the semi-colons after every curly brace. >.> However, it’s good to be back because I’m solving old unsolvable problems fast and at my current rate I’ll be done in a week or two (EDIT: <<<---HAHAHAHAHA).

Good news, I finally might be leaving my age long spree of inactivity to come back and develop something. I’ve been playing around with Unity and C# in the past few days, and I’ve made some pretty major progress. 

I know nobody reads this blog yet (lol), but I've been wondering what I should make next...

I could make a launcher, that would certainly remedy this whole "no followers" situation, though if you know me you probably know I loath launchers.

I could revive an older project idea such as Nightmare Evolution or MFSI 2.

Or I could make something entirely new. I could make the art 3D, vector, or even pixel. The possibilities are endless!

Here is a quick screen cap of what I've been working on. It's not much I know, but I definitely made a lot of progress on the core engine.

Recently my hard drive crashed. As there were no backups of my games existing outside said hard drive, everything was lost. This means MFSI, Water Cooler Idle, and my other existing projects won't be receiving any more updates. Additionally, my 20-35 WIP games have been lost.

But do not fret! This is a chance for a fresh start. I have already started work on a new project, better than pretty much anything I had started on my old games.

Made a quick MFSI FA update today.

- Fixed the erased save data on update (This one is a pretty major fix)

- Fixed scenery and ground loading problems

- Fixed bug that was causing the users' level not to show

Today I went through some agonizing ordeals with css, but I have finally gotten back into the swing of things. I'm proud to say I successfully created a website for Mini Fish Screensaver Idle in one sitting!
