Day 2 Honey-Lemon Acne Cure Less lemon-in-eye tonight, so yay that! I'll show a morning-after picture tomorrow, because there's increased redness right after the scrub, then it all goes flat and mostly smooth.
Ok, so I have a wedding in less than 2 weeks and…the acne to show for it. Frankly, it’s a nightmare. I mean, nothing I do is getting rid of it!
Enter the lemon dilemma. The punch I’m mixing for the reception calls for lemon peeling…but my grocery store doesn’t sell just ONE lemon. No, you have to get the whole bag. So now I have a bag of lemons and a map of Eastern Europe on my face.
Long story short, I got on Pinterest and found a quick and dirty lemon scrub hack. Squirt honey (another punch ingredient, as it happens) on half a cut lemon. Rub on face. Let sit for 5 minutes and rinse off. Should see darn near instantaneous results.
So this is Day 1, the rest of the week to follow until I run out of lemons. I only need the peels, after all. It’s already looking worlds better than it did.

So The Antagonists has received mixed to positive reviews (mostly the latter). Which is great! And there are going to be plenty of books in the future and I hope that most of you can stick with me on this journey.
But with that said, I think that we can all agree that the overall story is not quite…what it was going to be. The story is going to evolve into something great and while I’m personally excited for where it’s going to go, I will fully admit that the superhero/supervillain aspect of the story isn’t going to be as prominent as the other aspects. It’s still going to be there; I promise! There are simply going to be other elements. Most of you seem okay with that but…I also kind of want to write a story that’s focused on nothing but people with disabilities with superpowers.
I’ve had this Young Adult Story in mind for awhile now.
It would be called The Defectives.
The story would be set in a city where everyone has a superpower. The children with disabilities are sent to a boarding school as soon as it becomes evident that their disabilities are causing their superpowers to malfunction. The entire point is to lock them away and keep their superpowers from malfunctioning and harming themselves/others. (For example, a boy with anxiety has pyrokinesis that flares up with his anxiety attacks. In other words, whenever he’s really anxious, fires spontaneously start).Â
The main character of the story is going to be a girl in a wheelchair (I’m remarkably biased) who has telekinesis. She’s sent to the school and at first, it seems like it’s a prison. She slowly starts to enjoy herself as she meets a great group of friends and some amazing teachers who show her how to control her superpowers. She learns how to make it so that the chair itself is floating. It looks like a regular wheelchair but she can take off the wheels and use them as weapons while the chair is still floating in place.
A majority of the book is just going to focus on the school, the characters’ interactions with one another, and the characters learning how to control their superpowers. The climax of the story occurs when (spoilers) a group of the students decide to use their superpowers to take revenge on the people who sent them to the school in the first place.
Once again, it’s going to be a simple Young Adult Story. The plot itself is going to be admittedly simple because I really want to focus on the characters and all of the amazing possibilities of the relationship between the disabilities and the superpowers.

Week Ahead (Two Weeks before the Wedding)
Theme: Four of Pentacles. Possessive, miserly spirit, preoccupied with finances and material possessions. I take this as a reference to the financial pressures of hosting a wedding sort of pressing in, looming over what should be a joyous, exciting occasion and slowly throttling it. I have been careful with my money. I can afford this. The major expenses are behind me.
Sunday: Devil (ironic much?) Addiction, overindulgence, lack of self-control, which is ultimately destructive. Looking back on Sunday, I spent kind of a lot of time that should have been focused on my wedding on fanfiction. Fanfiction is awesome, taking short breaks when I get overwhelmed is healthy. But I sometimes escape there and live there, and it’s already put me very far behind in wedding planning. That time (particularly since it was spent at church, albeit listening to a preacher with whom I disagree) would have been put to better use developing my Book of Shadows.
Monday: The World Satisfaction and peace of mind. Completion, seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Achievement after hard work. My fanfiction was complete and I’d published the first 5 chapters on my fanfic website (https://frodobelle9138.wixsite.com/fanfiction/asphodel-and-wormwood) The last of my major purchases were behind me and shipments are coming in this week and a little into next. It’s all coming together.
Tuesday: Eight of Pentacles Craftsman; patient, attentive to details. I started putting my veil together and folding napkins into waterlilies. The creative bug got hold of me and isn’t letting go. I’ve purchased all of these materials and now I can play with them. I was a bit miserly about the veil, it had one little hole smack-dab in the back of the head and I wanted to overlook it because I wanted to stretch the veily material just as far as it will go. I was scared to waste it. I have enough material. I have done the math, I can reuse the discarded veil. My veil should be pretty and perfect, or at least better than the tablecloths.
Wednesday: Strength Courage, compassion, self-control. Managing control and force, rather than being ruled by them. I interpret this as perseverence through the process, and guarding against becoming a “bridezilla”, or against complacency. It can be beautiful, it will be beautiful, and I can and should enjoy it. Ultimately, if I (as the Bride) do not enjoy my wedding, nobody else will. And then it really will have been a waste.
Thursday: The Hanged Man Letting go, surrender, suspense. I have a love-hate relationship with this card. I’m mellow and non-confrontational, I’m the first person to advocate being and letting be. I’ve also let lots of things fall to the wayside about my wedding because I’ve been complacent, and now I’m feeling it and freaking out and worrying about money. We’re getting into the part of the week I haven’t seen yet (it’s Wednesday), so I’m not really sure what to do with this. It’s an unknown and I cannot stand unknowns right now. So probably the take-away here is to accept unknowns and sudden changes with grace, control the damage as much as I can and move on. Breathe. Life happens.
Friday: King of Cups Protector. Caring for and watching over others, showing compassion. I love this card. This is everything I value. It’s hard to do sometimes, particularly when I am under a lot of stress. I admit I sometimes feel very resentful about helping others, and I need to guard myself against those feelings so they don’t color the memories we’re making. It may be a very long time before I see any of my friends again after the wedding since I am relocating halfway across the continent.
Saturday: Justice Harmony, equilibrium, logic, assuming responsibility. BACHELORETTE PARTY!!! Pretty self-explanatory. Have fun, have lots of fun, make merry without restraint…but, like, don’t die or alienate your friends and family or hate yourself afterward.
Storytelling Through Tarot
I’ve noticed that a lot of other witches also enjoy fiction and writing! Tarot itself tells a story, and you can do so much with using tarot to outline your story and characters! So here’s a 13 card spread that can be shortened down to six if you need to. The order in which you lay them really depends on if you’d rather do a six or thirteen card spread.Â
1-6 are the main points of the story.Â
Beginning - What are things like at the beginning of the narrative? Where do your characters start?
Climax of Act One - Something has drastically changed in your MC’s life. What is it? What do they need to do now?
Midpoint: big twist! - Need a plot twist? Someone is hiding a secret? Things aren’t going as planned? This is where something unexpected happens.
Climax of Act Two - It looks like the bad guy is winning, nothing is going right. What does the most intense part of your story look like?
Wrap up - What loose ends need tied up?
End - Where are things now at the end of the story?
Now, the other cards go in between those main six points.Â
Beginning
Inciting Incident - What happens that shakes up the status quo?
Second Thoughts - What’s your character thinking now with these events looming on the horizon?
Climax of Act One
Obstacle - No one said this journey was easy
Obstacle - Yup, more things to keep your hero from meeting their goal
Midpoint
Obstacle - Getting frustrated? Good.
Disaster - The “oh shit” moment

There can be OTPs, NOTPs, BROTPs, crossovers with other fandoms, etc. Feel free to twist, frisk and make fun of any of the characters/plot points you like. The only hard and fast rule is that submissions MUST feature the characters and plot of "Abednego" by Devanye Hansen. Set up My Author Blog on Tumblr!
This is the first official post for my author blog on Tumblr! With any luck, I will manage to keep up with it and share everything on my author site ( www.devanyehansen.net ) here as well. Sorry it took forever, after publishing “Abednego” the first book of my Guardians Series, I started planning my wedding and a career change. I have now edited and begun the publishing process for “Lone Wyr” the second book in the series. Please follow this page and feel free to visit my site. I’m still adding things to it, but it’s pretty good so far and only going to improve!
