postcard for the short film
below image is a poster for our short film Sayaa this postcard represents how the protagonist Sam feels trapped because of her past and how it is impacting her present making her delusional and causing her to be haunted by a self-created SAYAA the antagonist of the film
social media page link
as we have almost reached the final part of our A Levels Media blogs, our group has prepared an Instagram account where upload photos videos reel bloopers as this in the real world creates hype for the upcoming film’s target audience is likely to search about the film on any of the social media app such as Instagram Facebook or Twitter one of the examples of this would be the avatar 2 fan clubs being formed on Twitter where the crew member of ht film daily upload some bits of the shooting or update the ass audience with some trivia facts to influence more and more people. thus in the same essence, we made an Instagram account for our short film Saaya

edit day 3
category-course work development/production
today is the day when we have to complete everything and by the end of the working day present sir with a short film titled Sayaa .till now everything has gone according to schedule thus today all that is left to do is put on an effect of adjustment layer so that the depression and flashback really look sad and by giving it an effect make it look like a flashback so that the audience will be able to notice childhood sam and present sam other than that we have to set the right colour grading as it sets the overall tone of the short film
at last, the editor has to smooth out everything and make sure that there are no rough cuts that would harm the continuity of the film and add the end credits of the film
for the colour grading of the short film we discussed and finalised on a dark yellow theme saturated colours for the 1st few minutes of the theme and during the flashbacks light brown tint so that it would go along with the effect would look very good and also cover up the frame rates issue
and for the last scene ofthe antagonist we are thinking to give it a darker tone because the red light speaks for itself
also, add a watch in the flashback scene to showcase that time has passed by she was able to move ahead leaving the pain behind
edit day 2
category-course work development/productions
as decided on the second day of the edit my job is to make sure that the team has all the foley sound that the short film needs and also to make sure that the follies are properly timed and no there surrounding sound interfered
Foley is a unique sound effect technique that involves creating and “performing” everyday sounds for movies and television shows.in this short film, the scenes required footsteps, curtains sound, ambient noise, water pouring, destruction sound and heavy breathing sound that was recorded by my phone
furthermore, according to the script, there is a voice sound of sams mom and dad fighting that too was recorded on my phone and edited in the short film during Sam’s flashback and depression scene
take a look at the video below which is the compilation of the foley sound added to the short film (there are many more but these few are the one which was taken for the edit )
editing day 1
category-course work development/productions
so by now as we have completed the 2 DAY shoot for Shayaa and now we were ready to cut, edit and make the perfect timeline for our short film Sayaa so that we can have enough time to colour grade and adjust the follies for the short film on day 2 and day 3.
so as mentioned above day 1 is to set up the timeline for the movie we started by importing all our raw footage into fcp(final cut pro)-[the software we are using to edit our short film and as we are using an imac 2017 model and as FCP is a product of apple working on mac while using FCP is a good match as the format is optimised for macOS and the latest Mac computers, allowing you to render and export faster than with other RAW formats. ] adding on we had almost the footage of 20 mins in the import media section and her almost 30 mins of selecting the right take for each and every shot we finally had a rough time lie of almost 10 mins.from here on out it became very crucial for the editor and the director to collaborate to probuce a celan time line so that we can move ahead with the editing process.every member of teh group werew giving their input sir was monitoring us and we were moving ahead with the short film adding on as jinay had already made is editors notes while the shoots were going on we sailes through the 1st day smoothly
Post4 (shoot day2)
After completing the 1st day of shoot and after facing some difficulties we were finally able to arrange the lights needed for scene 5 as this was the one of the most important scenes in the short film as it's the introduction of our antagonist the shadow(SAYAA)
Furthermore we also had planned to shoot a conversation scene between Karan and Ajay discussing SAYAA's condition adding on to this there were also flash back scenes to be recorded where sam's parents are shouting on her and she is tearing down in addition to that a depression scene where we have to show that time has been passing but Sam hasnt been able to move pass that by showing that days has passed but Sam was laying still
During post-production, we noticed that the frame rates for the depression scene and the flashback of Sam crying were wrong creating a flicker. However, that problem was covered by adding the effect of an adjustment layer to not only give it an effect of the flashback but also to make the flicker as light as possible .
other than that the conversation scene between Ajay and Karan was shot keeping in mind the 180-degree rule ots as the whole scene was based on convening Ajay to go check up on Samaria
furthermore, as we had to give a red effect to the antagonist we used a spotlight also known as a multi-light covered with red gelatin paper to give out that red gloomy effect and set up in such a way that Sayaa's shadow will reflect on Samaria making him look big and dominating whereas sam who is sitting down will be looking weak and powerless in font of him
post3(first day of shoot)
category-coursework development/production
so as we are going to shoot Sayaa in a non-linear pattern according to our master breakdown so we had originally planned to shoot Sayaa’s scene 1, scene 2 and scene. 5 on day `1 because those were the most crucial scenes of the short film and were surely going to make it in the final cut if anything went wrong we would still have another day to reflect on what we did wrong yesterday and make sure that mistake was not repeated on the next day of shoot however, due to some technical issue were not able to arrange the lights on the first day so instead of wasting our time waiting for the lights we thought to improvise and shoot scene 3a and 3b instead of the scenes that required red lighting
one of the best time I had shooting on day one was when Samaria goes through a mental breakdown and starts to break whatever comes in her path this was a very intense scene and it had to look convincing in order to do that we obviously had to take a lot of takes but also this whole scene was meant to be hand-held following samaria wherever she goes and making sure that the camera isn’t off focus or the output didn't come out too shaky or an unsatisfactory level and after multiple takes getting shloka into the character all the scenes came out to be perfect and what gave me the idea behind a shot like this was from a fight scene in avengers infinity war
in the video above you can see that the fight scene between hulk and Thanos were shot hand held and that is was it gave such a immersive factor to it thus i tried to do the same with the mental breakdown scene in Sayaa
even though we selected the handheld shot we already had taken precautions and took a master shot of the whole scene just for the safety of it also from different angles to show the destruction going around in the house due to sam’s delusional mind

post2(mock test)
category-course work development/productions
this is one of the most vital processes to carry out as we move ahead to the final shooting of the scenes. here we would make last-minute arrangements if any prop is required or in this case, the production designer would start making the blood required for a particular scene. this is also the time when I would start checking the camera and make sure the aperture iso and the frames per second are set correctly and if not then this is the time to set it, our director was re-reading the script again and again so that there wouldn't be any margin of error left during the shoot. In the same manner, jinay ours. the editor would be setting up the digital clapper and on the other hand, he would have the screenplay and the cinematographer note’s copy so that it would be easy for him to mark the editing technique after every approved shot so that it would be easy for him edit during post-production
also ichacha our director explained the script to our actors and actress however, we were able to do that

the above link is a video of our mock test bts
post1(film title)
category-coursework development/productions
there are plenty of purposes for utilising a title in a film it not only makes the audience aware of what to call the film or the short film but also what type of tone is set for the film the audience to get for the upcoming hour. In fact, one would say that it enhances the experience of the genre set for the film
For instance, a gothic, bold typeface might be used in a horror film to evoke the feeling of darkness and terror, while a romantic comedy might use a softer, more whimsical font to evoke the feeling of lightness and pleasure.
just take last years 2-minute opening scene as an example-cold blood
this photo is the title for last year's 2-minute movie cold blood it was set with a thrill and a murder tone) thus the red colour with a white background screen because it shows the murder of the girl and the thrill that is about to come ahead
with the same mindset our this year's title SAYAA had a simple black background and the font looks like it has been written with chalk as it gives out a eerie feeling and the reason for this simplicity was as this title was even used for match between two different shots
post20(actors ppt and producers ppt)
category-research and planning
the following ppts are the actors ppt and producers ppt for our short film because after creating a short film it gets clear to the crew members how our short film is going to be moulded with the help of the location of the city and the number of the characters the short film is going to cast this improves corporation between the crew members and thus while developing the final screenplay each and everybody will be able to give in a better input
producers ppt
the first slide explains the summary of our short film a paranoid girl who goes through a mental breakdown and asks her brother for help looking for a Way out
a synopsis is a brief statement which outlines the whole passage and its motive, however, without revealing the climax of the movie
one-liner actually a question in this scenario which makes the reader question himself what going t be real and what is going to be the delusional reality of the protagonist
USP-unique selling points
what's different about our short film, what's the differentiating factor, and what will attract the audience into watching our short film
we are thinking to cast Sam our protagonist as the primary character, the secondary characters would be Sam’s brother and her shrink the tertiary characters would be her parents and Sam’s brother's college
the colour palate is going to be the way our short film is likely going to be graded during the post-production of our short film we are choosing darker tones as the film has an eerie feeling the red lighting gives it a horror touch, therefore, a darker tone would be effective
post19(cinematographer’s notes)
category-research and planning
as listed in the post below its important to plan beforehand in order to make sure that the shoots go smoothly and per planned and as my role in the productions falls as in the DOP(director of productions) it is essential for me to prepare cinematographer notes so that it will not only me but the rest of the crew a better idea about the short film as and when they go on imaging the scenes by their necessary shots and compositions
on top of that, a cinematographer's note allows for cooperation and better coordination between the crew mates as the notes are formed pre-production all the other departments collaborate with each other so that time can be saved. for example by making cinematographer notes the production designer can understand when to arrange the lighting or if a particular scene requires the actors to retouch their makeup because of a face close-up.
further more, during post-production, the editor can more easily comprehend the purpose behind each shot and sequence by using the cinematographer's notes as a guide. thus used as a reference guide for the editor of the group
In summary, cinematographer notes are an essential tool for producing a film. They help to plan the shots in advance, save time and (in a real cinematic movie) money, facilitate collaboration and communication, and serve as a reference during post-production.
post18(auditions)
category-research and planning
from the very beginning, we already knew who would be perfect for the role of Samaria thus we asked Shloka(the person who plays Samaria in Sayaa) and she agreed to play the role of Samaria however, we held an online meeting to explain her role so she would have an idea about the character and also learn her lines from the script
apart from that the movie consisted of three real characters
Samaria, Ajay, Karan
Sam is the main character of the story film and her role is played by Shloka
Ajay is Samaria’s brother and the role is played by Harshil
Karan is Ajay's colleague and the role is played by Shritej
the above photo is of Karan(shritej)
the above photo is of Ajay (harshil)
the above image is of Samaria (Shloka)

post 17(trial run)
category-research and planning
the benefit of taking auditions and strategically planning a trial run is to:-
1) to figure out how the story is going to be presented after it has been shot, as it gives the creativity of the director a chance to improve in case of any mistakes are noticed or if the scene can be acted in a better way
it gives me a better chance to visualise what shots going to be best applicable to a particular scene or any way to change or enhance the cinematographer's notes that the shot perfectly matches the philosophy of the scene to explain this better a clip from the movie the batman (Christopher Nolan ) will do
the four-minute clip is a scene from the dark knight here the cinematographer broke the 180-degree rule and went beyond that by simply moving the camera right to left over Batman and Joker over the shoulder this was done so that the camera doesn't seem static such an intense scene and also because a 180-degree rule is meant to present logic and order in the scene however, this particular scene represents an imbalance in power and thus the bending of the rule and all this possible only if there are multiple trial run present for the crew members to understand and a particular scene or the rhythm of the media product.
on the same note we took a trial run before starting the shoot for the short film in which i used my phone camera to understand samaria’s room and acoordingly arranged all the props
