an addendum: we find nick’s alleged use of the term “hugbox” particularly distasteful.

a “hugbox” is an actual device used to comfort individuals with sensory processing disorders, specifically autistic people.

in the context in which nick (and countless other internet users) use the term, it exists only to use autism as an insult against others and to mock autistic people, whether or not the user is aware of the origins of the term.

And this forces you to decide whether your autonomy matters to you more than the approval of the group - while they'll still act like you're on thin ice either way, if you give in at this point they know you're theirs forever, because now they've established a foothold, you've shown a moral weakness, which they will brand you with so it can be used against you in the future ("hey RICE-addict here doesn't want help break into the city records office") to force you to double-down and isolate you further.

Which is also primarily known as the nazi alt-right extremist militia hate group movement.

He claims they strayed from his ideals by being “anywhere from antifa to fascist” instead of just about “freedom”.

He says he renamed himself from boogalooboi to his current username to rebrand.

That he is what the boogaloobois model themselves after, presumably as his fans.

So it’s not that he coincidentally looks and acts with fascist dogwhistles, it’s that according to him, the fascists model themselves after him.

And still for whatever reason, he keeps wearing and saying things the Boogaloo boys are known for after supposedly renouncing them. The hawaiian shirts, the gun collection and fanaticism, military fatigues, the fixation with “freedom”, using “boogaloo” to mean ‘revolution’, etc.

He is a white devout christian man that makes those long conspiracy theory iceberg videos, as he considers conspiracy theories to be fun and interesting, but barely if ever addresses the antisemitism of most of those conspiracies.

And named himself and his Youtube channel after the taboo winter hunger spirit of the Algonquian native peoples. It is a part of a closed-off religion where you aren’t supposed to mention the spirit by name or it will notice or manifest.

It also conceptually symbolizes the imperialism and colonialism and greed - “the consuming forms of exclusion and assimilation” - that affected the Algonquian peoples. The further cultural appropriation and misrepresentation of the taboo spirit into a quirky cryptid and using it for branding and merchandise is inappropriate. He has also said stereotypically transmisogynistic things just because it was about Chris Chan.

He was inspired by shoe0nhead, an “anti-sjw” youtuber that claims to be a “leftist populist”, but is an anti-feminist that believes in 9/11 conspiracies, and he regularly interacts with her.

And is a Kyle Rittenhouse fan. Someone who killed three people at a black lives matter protest and is affiliated and supported by the proud boys - a white supremacist neo-fascist group. He follows his official Twitter and agrees with tweets defending Kyle. (reddit threads on his official subreddit, on the subject of him following all kinds of people and his community’s political stances, like him being anti-vaxx and following alt-right people)

Religion could never be depicted in a mocking manner.

Words like “God,” “Lord,” “Jesus,” “Christ,” “hell,” and “damn” could not be used unless it was in connection with religious ceremonies.

If you’ve ever wondered why media has so much sh*tty stereotypes about homosexuality and villainy, or the bury your gays trope exists, well look no further than the Hayes Code and its wide reaching impact on generations of media makers! Our current rating system? Was actually an improvement on the Hayes Code.

You. Look. It. Up. You look it up. YOU LOOK IT UP. You do what you should be doing every single time you see something you don’t understand. You fuckin look it up. You have libraries of information in your pocket. Look it up. You do not have an excuse for not opening another tab, typing in the thing, and hitting enter. Look it up.

And if you’re LGBTQIA, Bipoc, non-xtian, or a woman in the US, and you spend any time looking up your history, you will see the Hays Code. It’s not just a silly old rule that we can laugh at now. It’s the framework we’re trying to dismantle. You need to know this. You should’ve been taught by your parents and teachers, but if you weren’t, you have to pick up the slack and do the research yourself. That sucks and I’m sorry, but it’s an unavoidable part of life.

See, this is that critical thinking stuff that purity culture is so obsessed with. You cannot interpret a thing (like “sex scenes are only for horny lol” being juxtaposed with the Hays Code) if you don’t know

the meaning of the language (the definitions of “sex,” “story,” “passion,” etc), the topics referenced (the Hays Code, what sex scenes are),

the speakers (Lily Orchard is notoriously aggressive, bigoted, and authoritarian… the Hays Code was written by a priest, a trade paper editor, and some studio heads),

or the context (the first statement is part of a ridiculous list of “writing tips” that also includes such gems as [paraphrased] wlw only kissing at the end is abuse, high-stakes conflict is bad, and the good guy must kill the villain, and was written in 2020… while the Hays Code was written in 1930 as a way to self-censor bc they thought the govt might step in if anyone saw their media as “lowering the moral standards” of ppl with “succeptible minds,” aka women, children, the disabled, and poor ppl who needed to be spoon-fed images of the “correct standards of life”).

You really do need that info. You do. You need to go get it. Then you look at it. And you combine it with all of the other applicable info you have. (For example, if you have had sex, or consumed any media containing sex.) Then you think through the thing, while taking everything you know into account. You identify what it was supposed to mean, and decide what it means to you. Congratulations! You have done the critical thinking.

At least if you still agree that sex’s only purpose in literature is to give you a boner, and that it’s a good idea to put down sweeping policies to prevent that from happening, you’ll have some kind of thought process behind it. And you can start trying to reconcile that view with its historical and present effects on minorities and society as a whole.

When I was about 17 I decided to test just how much you could find out about someone on the internet so I picked a random Twitter famous person and decided to see what I could find out about them. And with very little digging, just knowing their first and last name, their age, what city they live in, and what college they went to, I was able to find their full name, the full names of their parents, and their dad’s address, which I looked up on Google earth and saw that it looked exactly like pictures and videos that they had taken in front of their dad’s house.

All this I found as a person who had never tried doing this before in less than twenty minutes. And it freaked me out. A lot. I still live with guilt about doing that and haven’t tried doing it since but not everyone has the same morals that I do. Some people are willing to dig for more than twenty minutes. Some people are willing to make phone calls and go to where you work. And a lot of these people don’t have good intentions.

you guys honestly have to stop sending me this stuff as if it's anything other than speculation and gossip. i've never seen anything trans exclusionary on their blog at all. they don’t post about feminism or politics or anything at all to suggest any particular beliefs, let alone belonging to a hate group. for that matter, they don’t even make or reblog text posts?? i checked their archive and i only found two (2) text posts they’ve ever made or shared at all and one was just someone's donation post and one was 'thank you for 25k followers'. they run multiple blogs and literally all of them are just pretty pictures. it takes two seconds to verify this. there is literally absolutely nothing in any of them to give the impression that they are a terf in any way whatsoever.

for that matter, even if this person actually was a terf, which they’re not, it’s not helpful to send this stuff with zero evidence attached at all. if you’re going to make a claim about an individual in order to demand other people disavow them, it’s the bare minimum you could do to actually back that claim up. the notion that we ought to be blocking people or cutting them off in any way based on unsourced claims is honestly a kind of disturbing one. like can you see how that norm can be used to isolate people who have done nothing wrong?

in this post i neglected to include how i uncovered it bc it would have made the post unreadably long but if you want to do barebones research about the donation post you’re seeing:

1. use reverse image search. i do one on google and one on tineye since they seem to find some that the other leaves out.

2. google the paypal email address and the name associated with the email address and the blog name to search for any previous donation posts which may have conflicting information or reflects a narrative of someone experiencing a suspicious amount of bad luck

3. search key phrases in the post using quotation marks. sometimes people literally just make the same post over and over again under different usernames with different pictures. it really shouldnt be this easy.
