big fan of urban fantasy and similar genres because theres nothing funnier to me than a setting where youve got people fighting with enchanted blades and bows and hopping around doing magic tricks but you can also just hit a demon with your car if you feel like it
There's this very specific urban fantasy trope which is "processing the newfound horrors and wonders of the universe in a 24/7 diner" that gets me every time

having multiple online friends who live nowhere near you is agony. but having online friends who live near eachother and send you photos of their adventures together will turn you into the joker.

ohai. may i ask about either "Find me (are you paying attention?)" or "bea dWELLing"?
hi hi 😊thank you o7
find me (are u paying attention?)
is based on a post i saw and i spiraled from ALSO @daisychainsandbowties 17776 AU it's always there lingering in the back of my mind. space time and yearning and language!!!! let me out of your basement please
anyway it's about squints at my notes
some sort of space researcher bea, who is just this lone person uncovering something or doing more research on something. She finds some sort of old satellite, that are connected to different probes that keep sending convoluted messages between each other, and they all start with the same line of code, something along the lines of some coded phrase that looks like gibberish, (Are you paying attention?/ Are you watching?/ Are you here?)
It's all different variations of that phrase but it happens over and over that it's a pattern that Bea picks up on it. And there's clues and there's events, and it's like Beatrice is in the middle of it, in the sense that she's on a scavenger hunt and she's starting all out of order. And It's weird because the satellite has a log of chats and messages, but the person who sends the messages (who is a sentient program Ava) never gets a response. Sometime later it's revealed that Beatrice can send messages back but the log chats never either save on the screen or something and it's like some messed up time and space thing where it ends up getting sent in the future where Ava is.
And Ava's like waiting for her? for something, she's somewhere in the future and she noticed some sort of anomaly (something something it works like how light works in space where Ava is so far away from Bea she is viewing her in the past but when she reaches her it's the present, think like viewing stars). And she's trying to stop some sort of thing that's going to happen or sum and she's trying to communicate back to the past.
Beatrice catches up, she's able to find satellites that aren't destroyed + have full chat logs, maybe they're on a battery of life and have x amount of time before they're depleted + self destruct
and it's futuristic tech that Beatrice has never seen so there's nothing she can do about it rn
and she's able to communicate, but it's all wrong because it's the past Ava she's talking to and they spend so much time just trying to figure out a code of how to talk to each to each other
and eventually there is a point where present bea can actually talk and see present Ava
but it's like a pivotal moment
and Ava has to go and this is like the first and last time she'll ever see her
(for now)
Everything i write is just vibes nothing to see here 🧹💥

bea dWELLing is more random and something to do with monster!Beatrice and Ava wanting to be devoured by her and the two of them toeing that line and being freaks about it. I think the setting is in a fairytale land or sum i'll be honest it was just an excuse to write ava being unhinged about monster beatrice, i don't remember the actual plot and i don't have any notes (aka did not yell at ard about this so i don't remember where this was going). i think it also came to be because we were talking about scales and Ard's tomb guardians au and ava's scales but this is a bit of an older wip.

“Will you ever stop haunting me?” Ava pauses squinting at her, Beatrice thinks she is looking for a version of her she wants to exist. A version that’s more nice to look at that doesn’t have sunken eyes. Her skin is pale and shimmery thanks to the rotting well water. The water is still but laps at her skin insistently making it appear translucent.
Ava pokes and prods at her, fingers jumping at the prospect of snagging in her wet knotty hair. Ava says weird things to her and it's fuzzy below water.
“I dwell here,” Beatrice tries her best not to sound bitter about it. Time passes and she’s here, it does not bode well for her mental state of mind.
An expression tugs at the corner of Ava’s lip, she’s swallowing a smile, the glint in her eye tells her something horribly stupid is going to come out of her mouth.
Before she can get to it Beatrice splashes her with water. It’s quick just the flick of her arm that barely misses Ava. It’s smelly well water and Beatrice would feel less guilty about it if Ava didn’t bother her every single day.
She’s too busy brooding over the new addition in her schedule to realize Ava has slinked in closer. She’s eyeing her up in an intense way that Beatrice can’t place. Ava is next to her hovering afraid that Beatrice will leave her. She’s peering at her shoulders, her collarbones but further down into the well water. At first Beatrice thinks it’s her chest and something ugly rears it’s head but Ava’s expression is one devoid of dripping hunger, she knows what that looks like.
