I posted an Ira Glass quoteĀ four years ago thatĀ deserves a reblog. The moment I first read these words, I shiftedĀ my perspective. Why hadnāt I read this before? Of course there is a GAP. It all made perfect sense. The words washed over me and absorbed into my skin. You must DO A LOT OF WORK before youāre good. Yes, yes, keep creating. It will be better next time.Ā
When I started out blogging, I was like a feeble baby bird. I had NO idea what I was doing. But I had recently gone back to school and here I had this new pursuit and my creative juices started flowing. All I wanted to do was create beautiful work, but it wasnāt. It was trying to be, and that was good enough because it kept me going. It kept me learning, engaged.
Today, I logged in to post for the first time since my two year hiatus and the first thing I saw was a post about not giving up. Just as I am shifting my perspective again to believe I can do more, BE MORE. And so I revisited previous posts that reminded me ofĀ this. I went back further to five years ago, my third post on this blog. It was a Nike Ad I had come up with about empowerment with the tagline, āThis is my run, my rules. I set the pace, and the wind follows.ā
I re-read my some of my words explaining the idea, āweāre all running towards something. I wasĀ determined to get there.ā
Yes, yes, keep creating. Next time it will be even better.
I think the most valuable advice anyone has every given me started with, āKeep going.ā If you are just starting out, struggling, or even if you are in the middle of journey, approaching that creative milestone, you needĀ to hear this:
JUST.Ā KEEP. GOING.
Ā No one will tell you this, but you need to hearĀ it. I posted an Ira Glass quoteĀ four years ago thatĀ deserves a reblog. The moment I first read these words, I shiftedĀ my perspective.
