Tonight, we played while his rank was still silver and mine was low gold, and we matched with unreliable DPS players every single game. . . He was tank and I was support, and we carried 80% of our early matches.

Then, my BF got placed in gold. Suddenly, we won every single match we played! The DPS teammates we were now getting were solid if not better than us. We got so many team kills and stopped almost every match before or just after the first checkpoint. We stopped playing after winning 8 games, so I do wonder if our luck would have continued.
