When planning for vacation:
- get a refill of your prescription enough to cover the time youre gone, or plan to have it rerouted to a pharmacy near your spot
Set out your dose for the day of travel and then pack the rest of it away in with your toiletries
-pack clothes youâll wanna wear instead of what you think you âshouldâ
Know if youll be able to do laundry & if available maximize bag space by planning to wash outfits after you wear them
- DO NOT bring things you dont wanna lose
Make a list of the important objects to check every time you have to move your things
-clean out your fridge the week before so that nothing goes bad and starts stinking while youre gone
-think of things you use everyday and decide if they should come with you
-decide something comfortable to wear during your transit
Sweats are a good thing to wear because planes/buses/cars are usually air conditioned and it eliminates bulky articles from your bag
-bring cords and adapters (âlightning cablesâ are less effective bc usb ports are more common)
*ive heard of hacking things in those so be careful about what you plug into
-if youre planning on going into the wilderness then bring your cowboy boots so you dont get ticks
Wear them in transit so you dont have to fit them in your bag
-remember to bring any gifts you were planning to give any family youre going to see, be sure to thank them for their hospitality
-download a variety of media for transit & have something to keep your hands busy
Nothing with small pieces, murphyâs law: if it can spill everywhere, it will
-get wet toiletries & put them in a gallon bag in so they dont explode on your clothes
This is helpful for tsa bc you can easily grab them out for the x-ray tunnel, always think of challenges you may face during transit, put shit youll need to grab at the top
-pack hand sanitizer, deet, allergy, pain, vitamins, and any pills/ointments you need regularly, being on vacation doesnât preclude feeling like shit
If youre gonna be packing your own soap and shampoo then get the travel containers beforehand & make sure they meet tsa guidelines
Murphyâs law: if you can start your period at the least opportune time, you will
-bring pennies, quarters for pressed penny machines
-split cash between a secure stash & a grabbin stash for machines and stores that dont take cash
Grabbin stash should be broken bills like 1s and 5s
- have your carryon open before you leave to throw shit in last minute & REMEMBER IT
Always keep everything you need to leave with in eyeline. Murphyâs law: if you can forget it, you will
-take inventory of sentimental items well before and put them in the safe
Murphyâs law: if something can go missing at an inconvenient time, it will & you will be worrying about it the whole time youre gone.
-anything you leave behind while in a foreign land is forfeit, check before you leave & retrieve it as soon as possible when the worst happens
Thank any good samaritans profusely, bring trinkets from your homeland to compensate (they dont typically accept money)
-if youre driving than pick out a hotel before you set off (unless you plan on going all the way through)
Murphyâs law: anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Be ready for it and be calmed knowing that you are entirely capable of figuring things out as you go & everything will work out
