After the TADC finale dropped, I, naturally watched some reaction videos. One reactor, (won’t disclose who though it may be obvious) saw the scene in Ribbit’s room and immediately switched to she/her pronouns for Jax. Of course I know that Goose has confirmed that Jax is transfem and it was extremely obvious that he was through the series.

HOWEVER

I feel that the central tragedy in Jax’s character is that he doesn’t get to come out. He’s dug himself a hole of trauma and hatred towards women and people that can express themselves freely (ie. Gangle) that he cannot get out no matter how hard he tries. He is destined for a path of being antagonistic towards everyone in the circus because of his insecurity and there is no way that anyone can stop him from abstracting (suicide).

Ultimately, Jax never decides to come out, he only realizes his inner feelings after he is irreversibly unable to express them.

This is why switching to female pronouns annoyed me so much. Jax, in his canon state, does not get to be who he really is.
