What is DEPUTALE?
DEPUTALE is an UNDERTALE AU/Continuation based on a universe after the neutral route, wherein Frisk goes on to grow up and eventually, through a turn of events, motivates their child into freeing the Underground, using human magic to destroy the barrier. If you make the right choices... maybe it just might work!
Okay, but what IS it?
Mostly a music project, in a similar vein to UNDERTALE: Halloween Hack, however I intend to also create visual mock ups, and dialogue.
What is the status of this project?
Currently, it's still early on. I've struggled alot with doing frequent rewrites of the music pre-release... I want to do this project somewhat chronologically, but if I end up breaking chronology, I will probably create a spreadsheet that orders the OST to roughly canon order.
Will [X UNDERTALE/deltarune character] have a returning appearance?
Chances are, no. I've debated having main characters from UNDERTALE playing a role, however, I decided that it would be nice to have a mostly original cast. I'm not against including preexisting characters, however I only really want to include them if they can serve a new role, or are only a minor appearance.
Will the music aim to emulate the style of Toby Fox?
Sortof? I do want to make the music sound similar to the works of Toby Fox, however I also want the soundtrack to have it's own identity and style beyond that. In regards to leitmotifs, I do plan to make use of them, both from UNDERTALE and fully original.
Who works on DEPUTALE?
Uhh, hi, it's just me. I'm @itsjaypm. It's pretty much a solo project, I guess sometimes I let my friends give me feedback but pretty much everything will be my own work...
Will it ever be a full fangame?
I've gone back and forth about this, but given how much of an undertaking the OST is alone, I probably won't, atleast not now.
Will there be a Megalovania cover?
Tricky to answer. A part of me wants to avoid outright covers and such, but at the same time ... It's Megalovania! If not a cover, probably a take on a Megalo style song (though obviously that'd be genocide route songs and I am NOT anywhere close to that).
Will there be a take on [X song]?
I want the OST to take it's own shape as it develops, so I'm not going out of my way to make parallels to specific songs or character roles. DEPUTALE is an adventure aiming to put it's own unique spin on the Underground, as done by UNDERTALE Yellow and UNDERTALE: Halloween Hack, and as such, if a song is a parallel to another, it'll likely be retroactively assigned...
I'll try to update this post as I think of anymore questions to answer about DEPUTALE. ^^
