the loneliness comes & goes

His days were filled with ice cream cones and Robin’s sarcasm, his nights emptier than they’d ever been in his life. He wasn’t exactly doing keg stands anymore : he was lucky if someone looped him in on where the party was that weekend, and even then, he didn’t often feel up to actually making an appearance. After everything that happened – with the demogorgon, with the kids, with Nancy … – it wasn’t like he could put on shoes that didn’t fit anymore. That wasn’t him anymore. So he was scooping ice cream, trying to move on in his life. Whatever that meant.

“Vicky, hey!” he called, jogging from the edge of the store halfway across the food court, hand in the air. “Haven’t seen you around much. How’s your summer going?”

VICTORIA    COWEN    DID    NOTHING    IN    HALF    MEASURE     !      she    was    extravagant,     of    course    her    lifestyle    allowed    for    it        ---        little    rich    girl     (     mean    girl.     )     every    summer    her    parents    fly    them    all    off    to    some    far    away    country,     a    few    weeks    in    absolute    luxury  ;     her    parents    spoiled    them.        unfortunately    this    holiday    had    to    be    cut    short        ---        her    father    called    back    on    ‘  undisclosed  ‘    business,     so    the    remainder    of    the    summer    would    be    spent    in    gloomy    hawkins.        how    fun     !     days    spent    gossiping    in    the    halls    of    star    court,     laughing     &     breaking    boys    hearts        ---        what    vicky    did    best.        ears    ring    with    the    sound    of    a    familiar    voice        ---        &     here    came    ex - king    steve.        she    had    to    remind    herself    they    used    to    be    good    friends.
